@kauri_trees House by @rafemacleanarchitects is targeting full Passive House certification - one of the most rigorous building performance standards in the world. And we’re proud to be part of it. 🙌🏡 #ecowindows #passivehouse #nzhomes #highperformancehomes #passivhaus We supplied our ECO WOODALU PH windows for this project - triple glazed, with spruce timber interiors and durable aluminium exteriors. A system certified by the Passive House Institute in Germany for cold climates, designed to keep warmth in and energy bills down. Our FAKRO flat roof windows will bring natural daylight in from above - without compromising on thermal performance. We’re looking forward to seeing this one completed. 🙌

This clip is a significant highlight of my career. Not the clip itself but the feeling of it. The party run was pure joy and chaos with 14 people shooting a little creek run , but it holds a special place for me as i could feel the energy through the screen while shooting. So much stoke, joy and everyone frothing on this epic run on the @aspiring.guides Black Peak Base Camp. I then had a moment to myself after the clip, strapping in my snowboard thinking how lucky am I as I got to float this line solo on creamy snow following everyone’s tracks greeted by a group of stoked individuals at the bottom! Photography/ videography isn’t always about the perfect shot but capturing that energy in the moment to live on forever.

Te Toka, Queenstown. 🏔️ Built from stone quarried directly on site, this award-winning lakeside home on the shores of Lake Wakatipu is one of those projects that stays with you. We proudly supplied our ECO WOODALU PR triple-glazed windows, framing the beautiful lake views while maintaining exceptional thermal performance throughout Queenstown's demanding winters. This is exactly the kind of project we love being part of. 🙌 📸 @simondevitt_photographer 🏡 @rafemacleanarchitects & @dcd_ltd_queenstown See more at ecowindows.co.nz #ecowindows #ecowoodalu #queenstown #southisland #nzhomes

Set within a rugged landscape, this Certified Passive House by @rafemacleanarchitects is shaped by a strong and simple form that responds directly to the climate. Perched above the Mata-Au/Clutha River between the Pisa Range and Dunstan Mountains, the roof slopes toward the prevailing wind, while deep eaves on the north-facing side carefully control solar gain. The exterior form continues clearly into the interior, creating a strong sense of order and consistency. Structural decisions are clear and purposeful throughout. The cladding is carefully detailed and reinforces the building’s solid, monolithic character. Inside, large open spaces are balanced with warm, rich materials, creating rooms that feel both generous and grounded. 🏆️ Winner | Southern Architecture Awards 2026 — Housing 🏆️ 📷️ @simondevitt_photographer . . . #nzia #nzarchitecture #newzealandarchitecture #regionalarchitectureawards2026 #homenz

On the eve of the launch of our new book Cape to Bluff Vol 2 Trust. I’ve been thinking about trust a lot lately. We often celebrate creativity through outcomes. The photograph. The building. The exhibition. The book. But I’ve come to believe that the artistry isn’t only in the finished work. The artistry is in everything that precedes it. The conversations. The revisions. The uncertainty. The persistence. The patience. And perhaps most importantly, the trust. Cape to Bluff Volume Two began long before a camera was unpacked. It began with architects trusting ideas, clients trusting architects, builders trusting drawings, families trusting places they couldn’t yet fully imagine, sponsors trusting the project, and eventually, someone trusting me. We live in a moment where authenticity feels increasingly complicated. Images can be generated. Reality can be manipulated. The distance between what is real and what appears real seems to be growing every day. Perhaps that’s one reason architecture continues to fascinate me. Architecture remains stubbornly real. A building exists in a particular place, under a particular sky, in a particular wind. You can walk through it. Touch it. Occupy it. And books are real too. They have weight. They take up space. They ask us to slow down. The photographs in this book are not architecture. They are simply my attempt to translate one experience into another. A photograph is always a position. A perspective. A point of view. Not the truth, but an honest encounter with it. Thank you to everyone who made this book possible. Trust is the foundation beneath every creative act. You rarely see it, but without it nothing stands.

Cleverly formed for the movements of a young family on a tight site, this home by @rafemacleanarchitects is an exercise in exceptionally well considered spatial planning and dynamic design. Not one square metre is wasted here, with pocketed play areas, functional spaces, and surprisingly spacious bedrooms. Most notably, a roof deck doubles the house’s usable space and provides unexpected lake views over the neighbouring roofs. Folded from deep red corrugated steel, the form takes on a playful aesthetic that is in keeping with the creativity inherent in its design. 📷️ @mickeyross_ . . . #nzia #nzarchitecture #newzealandarchitecture #nzhome
