Every year RAF, RN and Army compete to find out which service is stronger and take turns in hosting the event. Last year it was held by the Royal Navy at HMS Raleigh. This year the Interservices Powerlifting Championships will be hosted by the Royal Air Force at RAF Cosford. The Male and Female Head Coaches have selected their teams to compete. 🤙

Over the past 2 days we’ve hosted a training camp in preparation for the UK Armed Forces Championships in September.

On day 1, athletes received mindset and team building training, followed by a Nando’s in the evening. Day 2 saw professional coaches from @estbarbell deliver both theory and practical training. The camp finished with a Broga session led by @buzz.lightlift .

A fantastic time was had by all and, if you’d like this to be you next year, keep your eyes peeled for details on our upcoming novice event.

Was really fun organising and helping out at the last 2 RAFPA events “Ladies Lift Off” and “Intermediate Camp”! Dabbled my hand at coaching, referring, handling, spotting and my fav Desk.

Also big shout out to one of my clients Steff securing second at the Spring Lift Off and a total 22.5kg increase in his total after just a few months! Big things to come for RAF Champs

First powerlifting competition experience at the RAF Intermediate Camp, was a good experience and only video I got was missing 120 bench but looking forward to the next now 💪🏽

Anyone interested in trying athletics, and all those already involved in RAFAA, are invited to attend. All disciplines and all levels of experience are welcome!

The training camp will include coached event specific sessions, an intro to strength and conditioning for athletics, a guest presentation, a mobility session and a group meal out.

2nd place overall male (first loser) at the @nottinghamstrong Open
.
225kg squat (matched PR)- strict judging, played it safe and shagged the floor
165kg bench (matched PR) handouts weren’t great so self handed out after the second
275kg deadlift (5kg PR) pretty cool to close out the comp too!
