Group photos 2025 — Part 1

Last summer was one for the books. Thanks to every crew, family, and friend who shared the river with us. These places mean a lot to us, and it’s even better getting to experience them together.

It's that time of year again—when we start watching the forecast and praying for rain! Join us as we kick off the whitewater season with an evening of stoke, stories, and community.

This is more than just an event—it's a gathering of the Vancouver Island whitewater community. Seasoned paddlers, newbies, and river-curious folks are all invited to come get inspired by local paddling photography, short films, and tales from the river.

Your $5 entry goes straight to supporting the amazing work of the Vancouver Island Whitewater Paddling Society (VIWPS), helping get more people on the water and protecting our local rivers.

Bring your crew, your stoke, and your rain dance moves—let’s summon the flows together!

The rains are a coming! Whose heading to the river? 🌧🌊

For most of our history, @cvkayaks has been primarily a sea kayaking, canoeing, and SUP shop, but as it turns out, we have amazing whitewater right here in our backyard all winter long! That's why this year, we will be making an effort to carry more products for our brothers and sisters in the whitewater community. Exciting times ahead!

Our goal is to continue serving paddlers with all the things they've come to expect from CVKC: awesome customer service, expert knowledge, and most importantly, top-quality gear (but with a whitewater spin).

If you're a certified river rat, what do you want to see on our shelves? Let us know in the comments!

Just back from another great trip on the Nimpkish River with @roams_qualicum. From rafting and kayaking to caving and cooking, these students learn so much in this outdoor classroom. They practice teamwork, communication, and leadership skills, while facing fears and overcoming challenges. The views on and off the river aren't bad either!

Your chance to get on the Horns of the Tons, an incredible river that flows in western Uttarakhand bordering Himachal.

This trip was first offered in a 1986 edition operated by Jack Morison of White Magic, California. In May 2005, Aquaterra Adventures operated the first rafting descent successfully on the entire Tons river since 1986 (and continues to be the only outfit running it!), almost a first descent as the river had changed considerably over 19 years.
On the Middle Tons between Lunagad and Tiuni, the river drops at an average rate of 32 feet per kilometer. This includes a drop of 78 feet/kilometer over the last three and a half kilometers before Tiuni. Amazing scenery, world class whitewater makes this a premier expedition for the white water paddler.
