Two summers ago, playing disillusioned tennis champ Art Donaldson in Challengers, Mike Faist conjured enough heat with Zendaya and Josh O’Connor to burn through the worst movies-are-dead prognostications. But where most of Challengers’ top players ran with the momentum, Faist largely disappeared from the limelight for two years.

What gave him pause, he says, was the sense that he needed to seize that already big moment to quickly secure his next, even-bigger thing.

“I think a lot of people will do one thing and then they double down and they get onto the next thing. They want this momentum,” Faist tells GQ’s @raymondangas. “I don’t think that I have that kind of stamina. I’m not necessarily a marathon runner.”

This week, he steps back into the spotlight in Netflix’s East of Eden; and while he’s clearly proud of the project, it’s clear he has cold feet about his return to the spotlight: “This is the part that I don’t know how to do.”

At some point in the course of our GQ cover interview with Tom Cruise, writer @zachbaron asks the man known for dangling off airplanes and scaling tall buildings: “Where do you think that urge to find the cliff comes from?”

“It’s just who I am,” Cruise tells him. “That’s my theory.”

With his newest film, @diggerthemovie, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, he may not be deploying any parachutes, but he’s taking his biggest leap in decades.

For Tom Cruise’s first GQ cover shoot in twenty years, we proposed an unusual stunt. We’d have Cruise walk, in plain sight, down Hollywood Boulevard. Tourists and all. Yes, we’d have a van and some bodyguards right there, but in fairness to our team who’d have to make it happen—it was a batshit idea.

Cruise was thrilled.

The photos, captured by @mario_sorrenti and styled by @georgecortina, carry a little bit of danger, just the way Cruise likes it. See them all, with the cover story and video interview, at the link in bio.

Say hello to our next Men of the Year issue cover star: Sydney Sweeney

Her powers as an actor are indisputable. She’s captivated audiences and earned multiple Emmy nominations with her work on Euphoria and The White Lotus. She’s also established herself as a powerhouse producer, most notably with 2023’s defiantly popular rom-com ‘Anyone But You.’ But in the summer of 2025, she became something else too: a market-and-politics-moving force of culture that Americans shouted past each other about. Throughout, she stayed mostly quiet.

Now, Sweeney is about to release the two most ambitious projects she’s made to date: the boxing biopic ‘Christy’ and the campy erotic thriller ‘The Housemaid.’ And she showed up to Chateau Marmont for an interview with GQ ready to talk.

“I think as time goes on, people will see that I’m way more aware of things than people think,” she told @kstoeffel.

When “F1” director Joseph Kosinski approached Brad Pitt with the potential to make a movie about Formula 1, Pitt had an important question: “Well, can we do it for real?”

And make it for real they did—much to the chagrin of the insurance company. Through every twist and turn and swerve onscreen, it’s Brad Pitt really driving that car.

He’s never been in a racing movie, but Pitt grew up on dirt bikes in Missouri. “The most interesting thing about Brad,” says seven-time F1 world champion and first-time movie producer @lewishamilton, “is that he’s already a bit of a racer at heart.”

But for Pitt, being in the driver’s seat offers more than just an adrenaline rush: “There’s a peacefulness in the car…. It’s like getting on a horse and trusting the horse, loving the horse and getting a communication with that horse,” he told @danielvriley for GQ’s Blockbuster Summer Issue.
