POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It feels surreal to be sharing this, but tomorrow is my last story time at P&G Wells 💛

Storytime will be at 11:30 and I thought we could all choose the perfect story together 📖

I have a new job with a publishing company in London! I am very excited, and I never would have gotten here without the support of the amazing @pgwellsbookshop . I am so grateful for the encouragement, confidence and opportunities Steve, Jo, and the whole team have given me to be creative and nurture a space for children to connect with storytelling.

I have been so lucky to work alongside @jo.and.the.books who is simply the best at what she does. Thank you for welcoming me into the world of P&G Wells Children’s with open arms (and biscuits!), and for giving me every opportunity to attend fantastic events and meet great people.

This is an exciting new chapter for me! But one tinged with sadness as it comes with turning the page on what has been a transformative year and a half of my life. I am a different person to the one I was when I began this job. I have reconnected with the magic of children’s books and found a real passion. The incredible amount of work, love, and talent that goes into creating a picture book, middle grade or graphic novel, poetry book or YA series, is inspiring. Children’s authors and illustrators are doing essential work.

Nothing brings me hope like the wonder of children – their questions, ideas, reflections and opinions. Every child has the potential to be a creative, intelligent, and kind person. Reading inspires this better than anything else. To sit and read with your child is to share with them worlds beyond their own, to feed their dreams and affirm their experiences. And as much as we teach them, they teach us. Books spark those conversations.

Anyway, that’s enough of that! I will still be posting book-related loveliness on here as I treasure this account. And who knows? Perhaps you’ll see me browsing the shelves at P&G Wells, or coming back for a Sunday storytime visit at some point ☺️💛✨

Happy Book Birthday to our Little Wolf! 🥳

Can’t wait for you to meet him.

✨ When Little Wolf’s siblings hijack his special day with Dad, he gets in a BIG huff. Can some old wolf wisdom help him use his huffs and puffs to turn his mood, and his day, around? ✨

It’s been such a joy to create this book with the brilliant @_katiecottle (wait till you see the wonderful woodland world she has created, it is 🤩) and the wonderful team at Templar - @ameliamakesbooks @lozzycreates & @lorrainemonagle_design

Thanks too to the wider Templar/Bonnier team (sales, rights, production, PR & marketing) for all the Little Wolf love!

And, as always, to my amazing agent @litagentclare and the whole @da_childrens gang!

(Also how cute is plush Little Wolf, created by the very clever @raggyrat based on Katie’s incredible illustrations)

Witchy Boo had a little trip out today 🧙‍♀️👻🪄✨️💜

Off she went to Chicken and Frog, signed LOTS of books, had a nose around, cast a spell or two (obviously) and generally had a boo-rilliant time.

She’s now back home having a very well-earned rest before her big day tomorrow. Because TOMORROW SHE’S OFFICIALLY PUBLISHED.

Thank you Natasha and Jim for being so lovely and for giving Boo such a boo-rilliant welcome. 💜

One. More. Sleep! ✨

BEAST MEETS THE PAPER CAT

Thanks so much @papercatbooks for having us today. Beast had a lovely time meeting all the families who came along, and so did I!

We roared, we designed beasts and we made a bit of a chaotic mess making stick wands!

The book, the beast feet and the beast plush were a big hit!

Plush Beast was made by the fabulous @raggyrat
Beast Meets Stick is written by me and illustrated by the amazing @mariondeuchars, and published by the wonderful @hachettechildrens team

Thank you @eastridinglibraries for inviting us to Live ‘n’ Loud, we had the best time sharing our new story for the very first time! 📚

Thanks too to the grown ups who braved the rain to come along to Beverley and Cottingham Libraries.

But the BIGGEST thank you goes to all the children, who are now experts at huffing and puffing! They blew me away (pun intended) with their artistic skills - just look at some of the lovely little wolves they drew (following Katie’s draw-along directions)!
💫
Little Wolf’s Big Huff by @_katiecottle and me (published by @templarbooks ) is out on 10th Sept and available to pre-order now!
💫
(Several people asked whether plush Little Wolf was available to buy too, but he’s a one off created by @raggyrat, although hopefully he will be visiting lots more libraries, schools and bookshops soon!)

Oh the universal language of books!

Warmed the cockles of our hearts. Having Frank and Bert stay has been great, but this was the highlight for sure.
