We just published a rod review for the @echoflyfishing Boost Fresh 590 on our blog @oregonflyfishingblog.

We are big fans of this rod as an extremely capable medium-fast action mid-priced rod. We love recommending this to people looking for an upgrade from their beginner rod, a spare to carry on the river, or for those who are looking to build a great setup from scratch.

The Boost Fresh punches high above its price point and is a rod everyone should know about. To read the full write up, written by Simon @fly_goddd go visit our blog @oregonflyfishingblog.

#SpeyWithUWOTF - Spey Cast Categories

There are two Spey cast categories. Touch-and-Go Spey casting uses a brief water anchor and smooth, continuous motion to load the rod and deliver the cast. Sustained Anchor Spey casting keeps the line anchored on the water longer, allowing easier rod loading and better handling of heavy flies and sink tips.

UWOTF Education is about elevating women fishing instructors, empowering anglers, and breaking down stereotypes about who can teach and lead in the fishing community.

This education is brought to you by @unitedwomenonthefly, @flyfishinstruct, @ifishibelong, and Heather Hodson @northwestflygirl.

Of course I am going to include Cape York Australia. I am not sure that I have ever had more fun with a single hander than down under. Everything there eats…or gets eaten…

What gear made the trip to the Sapsuk? Three favorite setups and a fly box with options, all available from the shop.

For swinging up silvers, I fished a Winston AIR 2 TH 8126. For rainbows and char, I used the lighter Winston AIR TH 5120. Both were paired with Abel ROVE reels.

A Scott Centric 10’ 6-weight paired with an Abel SDF 6/7 rounded things out for single-hand fishing in the smaller braids.

Following @aleutian_adventures recommendations, I grabbed Hoh Bo Speys, River Rat Squids, Intruders, Willie Nelsons, and Hartwick’s Flashtails from the shop bin. These leech- and intruder-style patterns, with plenty of flash and the usual anadromous colors, all produced silvers.

For trout and char, we had the best success swinging Graboids and articulated flesh. Beads produced, too, but we preferred the swing.

Choosing the rods was easy; deciding how many flies were “enough” was harder. I tend to overpack flies, and with so few snags on the Sapsuk, we never needed a late night camp tying session to replenish the box.

Want to talk setups? Swing by Mossy’s to discuss rods, reels, and flies for your next trip way out west.

#SpeyWithUWOTF - Own Your Spey Cast | Let's Bust Some Myths

Think you need to cast a country mile, dredge the bottom, or have the perfect cast to catch a steelhead? Think again.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Spey fishing is that MORE is always BETTER.

More distance. More depth. More power.

But successful Spey fishing isn't always about doing more. It's about understanding the water, making an effective presentation, and fishing with intention.

This October, we're getting back to the fundamentals, breaking down common misconceptions, and helping you build confidence in your cast.

Remember: The best cast isn't necessarily the longest cast. It's the one that fishes effectively.

What's the biggest misconception you had when you started Spey fishing?

UWOTF Education is about highlighting women fishing instructors and empowering anglers to lean to be more confident and competent on the water.

This education is brought to you by @unitedwomenonthefly, @flyfishinstruct, @ifishibelong, and Heather Hodson @northwestflygirl.

Does anyone else share in this addiction??? Am I the only one?

Tarpon fly fishing is as addictive as it gets. The excitement of watching a tarpon track your fly with bad intentions is tough to rival. And that’s just the beginning….

September has been a whirlwind in the best way and filled with so much community.

Six states. Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Washington, New York, and Pennsylvania.

I feel incredibly lucky every day to have a nursing career that allows me to keep pouring my heart into my passion project, @ifishibelong.

Here are just a few photos from an unforgettable month. At the end of the day, it’s all about the people.
