Jubiläumsgala 2026 | Staatsoper Unter den Linden

It was a true honour to be part of this special gala, bringing together the Staatliche Ballettschule Berlin and the Staatliche Artistikschule Berlin to celebrate their 75th and 70th anniversaries🎭✨

I am deeply grateful to have had an opportunity to perform this beautiful piece “Songs from the Labyrinth” choreographed by @scpc.boehm alongside Samuel. Bringing ballet and circus together on one stage was a truly inspiring experience, allowing us to explore the connection between two different art forms and discover what we could create together.

My heartfelt gratitude to @stateballetschool_berlin @artistenschule.berlin and to our teachers for their guidance, and to everyone who made this special collaboration possible. It was such a privilege to share the stage with wonderful dancers and artists, and to be part of this memorable gala. 🤍

Looking back, exactly a year ago I was away from dancing and stage, facing surgery and an uncertain return to dancing. Standing on this stage, I feel like I can finally look back and give my past self a hug<3

In just a few days, I’ll continue the creation of “Fields of Wonder” at @liedstadt

Here is a beautifully captured excerpt from our rehearsals a few weeks ago, filmed by @davidvoss10

Dancing: @ana__dordevic and @nicholaskrose , with @rahlburke stepping in for our actor @kameronlocke

As Artist in Residence, I’ll be creating three productions for the festival, and I’m very excited for the weeks ahead and everything that is about to unfold.

“Fields of Wonder” will premiere at the Kleine Saal of the @elbphilharmonie , together with @thomashampson , the @rothkostringquartet and @des.es.f.a

Looking forward to returning to the studio and continuing this journey. ✨

THE FUTURE OF BALLET IS IN THE DETAILS.

Not bigger tricks. Not higher legs.

BETTER TRAINING.

Three coaching moments from this summer with Rahl that remind me why I do this work. Rahl is a student at @stateballetschool_berlin

ARABESQUE: We weren’t chasing height…we were building the line! A beautiful arabesque begins with an organized body.

BATTEMENT FONDU: One correction changed everything:

“YOUR EYES TELL YOUR HANDS WHERE TO GO.”

When the eyes lead, the hands, fingers, and feet begin to work together. Suddenly, the movement is coordinated instead of mechanical. Watch how quickly his fondu changes.

Those small details are what separate talented dancers from professional artists. And in auditions, they make all the difference.

PRECISION : My classes combine the foundations of classical ballet with the speed, musicality, and athletic precision inspired by Willy Burmann, Zippora Karz, @jeniferringer ,Jerome Robbins, and Stanley Williams.

I mention to my students often you can’t just “be” on the music, you have the BECOME the music.

One of the most meaningful parts of my work is helping prepare the next generation of ballet artists—including talented young dancers of color—to walk into every room with confidence, clarity, and world-class training.

Rahl already has the talent. My job is to refine the details. Because details create artists.

This young man is going many places!

This summer I’ve been working one on one with Rahl, a student at the @stateballetschool_berlin (Berlin Staatliche Ballettschule), as he prepares for his senior year and the audition season ahead. Side note this kid is so gifted. Only been training roughly 3 years.

Our coaching combines the corrections, guidance, and artistry passed on to me by my teachers and coaches over the years. Most corrections given to me, stemming from my first coach Willy Burmann (RIP❤️)

It’s a privilege to pass that knowledge forward and to create space for the next generation of young Black artists to step confidently into this profession.

The work continues.

DM for coaching.
