POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

September was full in all the best ways. Another year of marriage, another trip around the sun, and a birthday spent in the city of love. Add in fun dinners and real time with the people I love most, and I’d call it a perfect month.

He dislikes (hate is such a strong word) Fridays but found out not only was L’Oreal hosting NBA Champs Coach Mike Brown and the “KAT” himself Karl-Anthony Towns, but I won a photo op with both of them AND a signed jersey and hat!! Coach Mike even complimented me on my kicks.

BLACK WOMEN WINNING 🖤

Meet Rahquel Purcell, the newly appointed Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer for L’Oréal North America.

But here’s what I really love about her story: she didn’t build her career in DEI.

She built it across finance, operations, supply chain and transformation before stepping into this role.

Congratulations, Rahquel. We see you.

Another Black woman winning. And I’m going to keep finding them.

One thing about me…I love being with my people 🫶🏾 This summer’s much too quick trip to Martha’s Vineyard was another beautiful expression of community, love and the need to create spaces to move freely and just be.

Loved seeing so many of my people old and new in one shared place.

Extra special thank you to my dear friends @stbranch2 @sheereenmillerrussell @shredd_with_scottie who showed up for me in an outsized way. Love you down and I’ll never forget it 💕

She’s our EarthAngel. 🤍🌍✨

And if you know, you know… the music is only one piece of who Mali Wilson is.

For YEARS, she’s been quietly feeding people, opening doors, making calls, creating opportunities, mentoring, giving, and showing up for women and girls in ways the world may never fully see.

And now, she’s pouring the music right back into the mission. 🪽

Every penny of her music revenue goes toward EarthAngel Worldwide supporting our #EarthGirlATL camps and helping girls and women facing real-life emergencies with food insecurity, housing needs, mental health resources, nutrition, mentorship, and so much more.

But one of the greatest gifts she gives us is community. The incredible women she brings into our lives to teach us, mentor us, pour into us, and remind us of who we can become. 🌱

Some people make beautiful music.

Some people make the world more beautiful.

Our EarthAngel does both. 🪽🤍

We love you, Mali. Thank you for making sure that when you rise, you reach back and bring your girls with you.

In the words of Beyoncé: America has a problem.

In 2020, the Black Lives Matter movement and the rise of pandemic retail therapy saw Black-owned beauty brands hitting record numbers. Diversity, equity and inclusion was the future. Then, years later, DEI turned into a dirty word.

But for the world’s largest cosmetics company, L’Oréal, DEI never died. In 2026, it’s just been breathed even more life.

This month, the company, which owns over 40 brands, appointed Rahquel Purcell as its next Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer of North America. The 2025 ESSENCE Black Women In Business honoree says she’s eager to create “authentic connections with diverse consumers and communities.”

Now, with Purcell at the helm of DEI, beauty’s inclusivity landscape is proving to be very much alive.

And coming from the largest cosmetics company in the world, inclusion isn’t just good representation. It’s proven to be even better for business.

The Vineyard was truly a soothing, healing balm for my soul this year. 🤍

The long walks held space for me as I processed a major life shift, the passing of my granddad. The hugs from dear friends were exactly what I needed. The holding of a hand. The quiet reminder, “We don’t have to talk about it, but we’ve got you.”

For me, this trip was warm love wrapped in the embrace of beautiful people, beautiful surroundings, and moments of stillness.

And I know my granddad is happy that I went. He gave me instructions to go forward and I intend to honor them. ❤️

Until next time, Martha’s Vineyard. You remain such a special, magical place. This year, you gave me exactly what I needed. 💫🤎
