My take on ARWC 2026 💥

There are moments in life where you have to pinch yourself, and be like… “this is real. This is currently your life”.

As the dust has settled, and we walked down “memory lane” last night it reminded me that this is/was that pinch moment - the greatest privilege, an unreal journey that’s truly almost impossible to summarise.

These 20 photos (a race summary) maybe do it the best justice.

Such an honour to go the distance with this incredible team - @teamterramater - we were power!!! Thank you @georgia.grobler, @ben_giliomee & @petrusmaree 🙏🏽

So many stories for the grandkids one day - many about big chunky mountains, the most technical & demanding course, the lows, the highs & to our newly made best French friends!

C’est vraiment mon sport préféré : le RAID multisport. Et pourtant, des sports, j’en pratique un paquet. Mais là, c’est presque plus un jeu qu’un sport. Une immense chasse au trésor sportive grandeur nature où l’on retrouve son âme d’enfant. On court, on pédale, on cherche son chemin, on réfléchit, on se trompe parfois, on rigole beaucoup… Et surtout, on ne voit pas la journée passer. VTT, course à pied, orientation, roller, trottinette, kayak, canoë, paddle, tir à l’arc, tir de précision, escalade, descente en rappel,… Chaque RAID est différent, parfois il y a même des épreuves surprises. Ce que j’adore aussi, c’est qu’on découvre des endroits incroyables et qu’on fait travailler autant sa tête que ses jambes. En RAID, j’ai une phrase fétiche : “Vaut mieux marcher dans le bon sens que courir dans le mauvais.” Et surtout, il y en a pour tous les niveaux. Même débutant, on peut se lancer, bouger, découvrir la nature, apprendre, s’amuser. Ce week-end, c’était en duo avec @samantha_godart_osteopathe dans le 91, en format expert. On s’est régalées. Mon seul regret, pas assez de monde pour se challenger encore plus. Ce sport mérite d’être bien plus connu. Qui aurait envie de découvrir le RAID multisport ? Si ça vous tente, je serais ravie de vous aider à trouver une épreuve adaptée, ou même de vous embarquer dans une prochaine aventure. Alors, qui vient jouer avec nous ?

The Adventure Racing World Series (ARWS) has unveiled its Hall of Fame Class of 2026, recognising 34 inductees representing 12 nations who have shaped the sport across decades of expedition racing.

The 2026 awards span four core pillars of the adventure racing community: 25 racers, 7 volunteers, 1 team, and 1 media organisation.

The racer category includes five athletes who also serve as ARWS Race Directors, as well as a poignant posthumous honour presented to the late Colombian competitor and race organiser Jorge Diego Llano.

Cto Mundo Raids de Aventura 2026 - Corsica

Tras 184h de carrera el equipo Peña Guara-Huesca La Magia consiguió llegar a la linea de meta en una gran 26ª posición. Un recorrido de más de 600km y casi 20000m+ que puso a prueba todas las capacidades físicas y mentales del equipo...

Nos queda la espinita de no haber podido completar el último trekking pero la mala previsión de tiempos de la organización y un cambio de hora de corte sobre la marcha por su parte nos privó de poder hacerlo. Aún así muy contentos de cómo funcionó el equipo durante todo el raid y de conseguir dar un paso más cada año para estar más cerquita de los equipos delanteros 💪

⛰️ @lilian.gugliero et Thomas (@soma_venture) se sont retrouvés chez nos voisins espagnols pour participer au @salomonultrapirineu. Le premier sur le format marathon et le second sur l'ultra finalement raccourcie à 60k à cause des intempéries.

🏝️ Après une saison 2026 incroyable, @romain_discher a décidé de prendre un peu de vacances du côté de Belle-ile-en-mer en accompagnant sa compagne Kéliane sur son FKT du tour de l'île soit 75km en 9h20 !

🗺️ Après Belle-île direction l'île de beauté où @fleuryroux & @cha.caussanel ont participé au @raidinfrance, le championnat du monde des courses aventure. Une itinérance en équipe de 4 de plus de 500 km et 18.000 D+ avec en kayak, orientation, vtt, via ferrata en autonomie complète... l'Aventure avec un grand A !

🐐 Notre "Furious Bouquetin" @nicolas_avrillon a opté pour un beau Top 15 à côté de la maison en bouclant les64km et 3.400D+ du @trail_des_glieres en 8h03.

🧭 Pendant 2 jours @maximegauduin a réussi à allier 3 de ses amours au même endroit et au même moment : @mariegauduin, Belledonne et la course d'orientation. Combo gagnant !

Ya en casa después de haber participado con el TEAM KELTOI en el Campeonato del Mundo de Raids de Aventura, este año celebrado en Córcega. Salimos 98 equipos de todo el mundo y después de 195 horas de carrera y 12,5 horas de sueño, llegamos a meta con el recorrido completo en el puesto 16.
Me encanta este deporte, por todo lo que me aporta, pero sin un equipo esto seria imposible. Yo tengo la fortuna de pertenecer al KELTOI y de convivir con gente extraordinaria, que sin ser como son esto seria imposible. Mónica, Calin y Felipe.😘
Gracias a todas las personas que nos ayudan, a Carles y Fernanda por apoyarnos todos estos días y a nuestras familias por el apoyo y la comprensión, que no es fácil❤️

ARWC 2026

Really difficult to find the words for last week.
8 days of traversing the crystal clear Mediterranean waters to the highest peaks of Corsica.

Insanely brutal but oh so rewarding.
Beyond grateful for our team of 4 and how we kept moving when the going got tough and being present enough to enjoy all the moments in between.

@brundle3 never fading from the man we know him as. Happy, energetic and caring for those around him. Kept us on track and heading in the right direction with incredible focus. Not often your navigator becomes your packhorse, but that is exactly what he did and offered help to everyone when the going got tough.

@petrusmaree leading by example with his calm presence and strength. Also making sure we focused when we needed to and had a laugh when we didn’t need to. He also became our team doctor 👨‍⚕️

@georgia.grobler luckily still my fiance 😉. Showing us boys what it means to be resilient and strong even in the toughest of circumstances. Carrying all of her own gear plus team kit and still keeping the vibes high and making sure we don’t fall asleep on the move 🤣
On the last night our race nearly fell apart when Georgie fell horribly ill. She slept it out and somehow found the strength to not only continue but also to lead the way in the later stages of the last day.

Wouldn’t change a single thing in our prep and the race itself. Some highs will be near impossible to replicate but loved the simplistic way of focusing on basics with just the 4 of us.

Some stats:
- 187 hours / 7.8 days
- ⁠647km
- ⁠18673m gain
- ⁠24h sleep total
- ⁠22nd out of 100 teams provisionally
- ⁠1st South African team

Incredibly grateful for @suzigiliomee making a surprise appearance and making sure to give us just the correct words of encouragement when we needed them most.

Thank you to everyone who followed along on the WhatsApp group, your support was felt every step of the way. As well as all the other South Africans out on course.

Cheers to new friends and memories that will last a lifetime.
Think I might leave my bike in its box for while now 🥱
