We support people seeking refugee protection in Canada because of persecution based on SOGIE or HIV status.

Share this post with your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbours. Show up on Sunday in solidarity with your migrant neighbours at the @migrantworkersalliance rally and march 🫂

“She came here to be safe.

Back home, loving who she loved could have cost her everything. So, she crossed borders, filled out the forms, took the job nobody else wanted, and waited, and waited for a permit, for a renewal, for the simple right to stay. Now that permit is expiring. And the country she trusted to protect her is preparing to send her back to the danger she fled.

She is not a statistic. She is our neighbour. Right now, millions like her are watching their status slip away as permits expire, renewals are refused, and deportations climb.

We’re proud to partner with the Migrant Workers Alliance for Change to bring the September 20 Day of Action to our community’s attention. This message is particularly important to our work supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ refugees and newcomers, and we encourage you all to put solidarity into action.” — El, Director of 2SLGBTQIA+ Refugee Services

MIGRANTS ARE UNDER ATTACK. MIGRANTS DID NOT CREATE THE HOUSING AND JOBS CRISIS AND SCAPEGOATING MIGRANT COMMUNITIES ONLY DISTRACTS FROM THE FORCES DRIVING HIGH RENTS, LOW WAGES, AND CUTS TO PUBLIC SERVICES.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) removed 23,160 people in 2025 and says it is now carrying out about 400 removals every week. Over 2 million people are being pushed out of the country between 2025-2027 - people who came under one set of rules, and then those rules were changed underneath them.

We have seen a dangerous new escalation. Portage College graduates organized after being denied work permits they had been told they would remain eligible for. On August 12, Calgary Police called CBSA to their protest. Immigration officers checked protesters’ status and 10 students were issued removal orders that same day.

END EXPLOITATION. STOP DEPORTATION. RENEW WORK PERMITS. STATUS FOR ALL.

We transformed the @unioncoopbc into the HAUS OF WORKPLACE HORRORS as a haunted house exploring dangerous workplaces for the Fabulous Race organized by @jonbraun91.

Over 120 racers from 24 teams competed in challenges all over Vancouver & New Westminster with the support of over 40 volunteers.

The best part: every dollar raised supports @rainbowrefugeecanada & a trans refugee who will be joining our community within the year.

Such an incredibly fun day. Thousands raised. Lots of screams and laughs. Thanks to @nadia.santoro8 & @shnrmn for their support coordinating the HAUS & the amazing volunteer actors @alaadahdal & others. ❤️🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏠
