Today, we are celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day, a date when we recognise and honour their histories, cultures, and their contributions that continue to shape so much of life today. It encourages greater awareness of the struggles, resilience, and unique traditions of Indigenous Peoples, fostering understanding and unity among diverse cultures.

Our @rainforest_fund has been working with Indigenous communities for more than 35 years, supporting and protecting traditional populations in their efforts to conserve their environments and fulfil their rights. Starting with a promise in Brazil @theofficialsting and I made, to support the demarcation of the Kayapo Indigenous territory, we have since expanded our work to promote projects across Africa, Asia, and other parts of South and Central Americas.

As a significant date in our calendar, today we wanted to share photos of some of the incredible heroes working on the ground, fighting to protect their homelands from invasion and incursions driven by illegal mining practices, timber extraction, palm oil plantations, unsustainable deforestation, and more. We continue to be thankful for the magnificent work they do and for their individual contributions towards protecting their ancestral homelands and cultures 💚🍃💚

Meet Trudie. 💚

She was brought to us by a friend of one of our volunteers after being found alone on the side of the road. Malnourished, severely dehydrated, and desperately needing help. Today she’s safe, loved, and beginning her journey to recovery.

We named her after @trudiestyler , whose lifelong compassion for animals, people and the natural world has inspired so many. Alongside Sting, she co-founded the @rainforest_fund , helping protect some of the world’s most precious ecosystems and the communities who care for them.

While our work looks very different, we believe it comes from the same place: the belief that every life matters.

Whether you’re protecting a rainforest, rescuing a horse, or saving one tiny abandoned kitten, every act of kindness creates a ripple that reaches far beyond what we can see.

Welcome to the family, little Trudie. We hope you’ll grow up as strong, kind and full of heart as the woman you were named after. 💚
