When Allah places a sincere intention in your heart, never measure its possibility by worldly standards.

There may be obstacles. There may be people who say it can’t happen. There may be systems, powers, and circumstances that seem too great to overcome. But when Allah has written something for you, no force on earth can prevent it.

Yesterday was a reminder of that truth.

I made the intention to pray in Al-Aqsa, and by all worldly measures it wasn’t supposed to happen. Yet Allah facilitated every step and opened doors I could never have opened myself.

Alhamdulillah, I stood in Al-Aqsa and prayed.

Sometimes Allah allows us to witness His power so we remember that our hopes are never tied to circumstances they are tied to Him. What seems impossible to us is effortless for Allah.

“If Allah wills good for you, none can withhold it.”

Alhamdulillah for every obstacle He removed, every door He opened, and for allowing my heart to return to one of the most beloved places on earth. 🤍

Notes from Ya’akub: Ramadan in Detention- Day 1 and 2

When injustice locks the door, patience becomes your key and faith becomes your light. Ramadan teaches us that true freedom is the freedom of the soul — and no cell can imprison faith.

🌙 Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is considered the holiest month in Islam. It is observed by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community.

Ramadan commemorates the month when the Qur’an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.

🌅 What happens during Ramadan?
1. Fasting (Sawm) Muslims fast daily from dawn (Fajr) until sunset (Maghrib). During this time, they refrain from:
* Food and drink (including water)
* Smoking
* Marital relations
The fast is broken at sunset with a meal called Iftar, and the pre-dawn meal is called Suhoor.
2. Prayer and Worship
* Increased daily prayers
* Special nightly prayers called Taraweeh
* Recitation of the Qur’an
3. Charity (Zakat & Sadaqah) Giving to those in need is strongly encouraged. Many Muslims give Zakat al-Fitr before the end of Ramadan.
🌙 When is Ramadan?
Ramadan begins with the sighting of the new moon, so the exact dates change each year. It lasts 29 or 30 days.

🎉 How does Ramadan end?
Ramadan ends with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a joyful holiday marked by:
* Special prayers
* Family gatherings
* Festive meals
* Giving gifts

I wanted to share this with you all in the hope that it inspires you to engage in civil and meaningful dialogue with one another.

Early this year, I had the opportunity to attend an interfaith conference in Washington, D.C. During one of the breakout sessions, I shared some reflections on the virtues and values of Islam. Afterward, a woman named Mrs. K approached me during the lunch break. She was intrigued by what I had shared and asked if we could sit down for a conversation, as she genuinely wanted to learn more about Islam directly from a Muslim.

This video captures 20 minutes of our one-hour conversation. It was a meaningful exchange where we both learned from each other. Unbeknownst to me, this was the very first time Mrs. K (who is in her 60s) had ever sat down with a Muslim to learn about Islam.

Allah certainly knows best and I hope that this serves as an inspiration to you all, Alhamdulillah Rabbil Alameen 🤲🏾
