A post long overdue.

4th August — a year ago, on this very day, I walked into rgd — Rabia Gupta Designs. All I knew was that I really liked their work, and somewhere at the back of my mind, I had started hoping that maybe, someday, I would get to work there.

Dreaming about working with a studio can sometimes be very different from the reality. But in my case, it turned out to be exactly what I had hoped for.

Somewhere along the way, I became addicted — really addicted — to design. One moment I was obsessing over type, alignment and the tiniest details, messing things up and learning to do them better; the next, I was doing push-up challenges, going for walks, watching movies and spending time with my studio family. I never realised how quickly they would become one.

Of course, it wasn’t easy. There were days when I was completely burnt out, when my brain stopped processing and everything felt hazy. But those were also the days when I had Rabia, Sunita, Ambiks and Ruchetha to talk to, who somehow always made things feel a little lighter.

It was tough, but somewhere along the way, I started finding joy in the grind.

We often talk about the grind as something we have to survive. But I’ve started to understand how much it can teach you, especially at the beginning of your career. There was a time when I wanted to absorb everything like a sponge. My head did start hurting, but I loved every second of it. And honestly, I still do.

This year brought me incredible people — designers, photographers, copywriters and, most importantly, friends. Some days are long and some are tough, but with the right people around you, even the difficult days become worth remembering.

I couldn’t have asked for a better place or a better group of people to begin this journey with.

Cheers to this complete creative madhouse.

Cheers to one year with you.

Here’s to more learning, experimenting, making mistakes and a lot more love for the work.

A little less ordinary.
A lot more considered.
