把纽约野路子搬进LA快闪🥪

Today 10/9/26 in Ktown Los Angeles my friends and I are doing a Việt-Cajun shrimp katsu sandwhich pop-up, an Open Market x Mr. Jong collab; we are serving 88 covers & it started at 11a PST and the combo with our smoked plum black tea is anticipated to sell out QUICK.

📍🍔 3339 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90010

I’ll be there in spirit (I’m still in NYC) but wanted to share some inspiration about the flyer designs and overall process; I LOVE designing but rarely talk through my creative thinking. In NYC the other day I walked by the crazy branding of Spicy Village in Chinatown and the colors left me speechless. It also called upon the red and green colors we already used for our Việt-Cajun boil we hosted back in March of 2025. Along with some flame graphics I pulled while riding the bus in NYC from 1915 Lanzhou Noodles (E 26th St has a way shorter line) back to my climbing gym in LES, the graphical idea solidified, but the flame inspo just recalled what we already made in 2025, collaborating with Chraz and reusing his flame oval and type setting. Enjoy some photos from our 2025 boil, and a cute chat about how we landed on the music Sittin’ Sidewayz by Big Pokey and Paul Wall from Bao’s incredible HTOWN BOILER ROOM playlist.

Special shout out ofc to Ralph (and OM!) for hosting and providing the infrastructure, the guidance and the care that glues us all together, as well as the shrimp artwork sourced from bầu cua cá cọp, the dice game often played at tết, Vietnamese New Years. It really takes a village‼️

Order Up!

Food & Fashion have always gone hand in hand.
If you are what you eat & clothes make the man,
why not break bread by dressing the Mando?
Look sharp, knife life, like konbini egg salad Sando.

From Big Tokyo to Little Korea, this collaboration is the first chapter in a long story of spontaneous moments of Far East meets Westside through culinary email recipes, lost in translation FaceTimes and sample packs muled through international customs. It’s truly a rewarding experience to see these two brands come together from across the pond to serve up something “Lunch Special.”

Congratulations to @sugerfive @ralphiediggs @andrewmarco__ and both teams at @openmarket.la & @tokyosandwichclub for having the vision, execution and trust to make this collab happen!
