To The Kings of the Earth…To The Black Men in my Life and to all Black Men…

I wanted to take some time to salute the generational effort made by so many. When people are looking for the “Good Black Men”, I’m so blessed to say they are evergreen in my life. I have encountered the most intentional, brilliant, loving, caring, successful, Black Men. I am so honored to do life with you. My favorite Angie Stone song is “Brotha”…unbeknownst to all, when I end a call or any communication with Black Men, I affirm their deepest desires with the lyrics of this song. It’s automated. I celebrate every one of your lives. I count it my joy to witness such greatness and gumption. I know that the world would like to paint it otherwise, but Black Men are the SALT OF THE EARTH, you are the foundation of so many structures that mean you no good and make no space for your passions. But I want to say in OUR WORLD, you absolutely matter. You are made for all that matters. May divine protection overtake your journey. You are chosen and you are many, find one another. Take your place.

20 Years. A Whole Legacy. A Divine Journey.

Today, I stand in awe of the road I’ve walked, 20 years in my official career, but a lifetime in love with the alchemy of food. It all started at 5 years old, barefoot on a chair in my mother’s kitchen, eyes wide, hands eager, heart already dreaming. I knew then that I wanted to go to culinary school, but I didn’t yet know I would graduate as valedictorian of LeNotre Culinary Institute in Pastry Arts. I didn’t know the sacred patience it would require. But oh, how worth it the waiting has been.

This milestone isn’t just about time, it’s about testimony. I celebrate the success of survival. I honor the young Black woman who dared to enter the world of pastry and wedding cake design when there was little room and even less representation. I give thanks for the private chef seasons, the quiet NDAs, the celebrity tables, the athletes, the C-suite execs, the families celebrating their biggest moments who trusted me to serve joy on a plate.

To every single person who saw my light before it was the trend to “see Black women win”, I thank you. Your belief fortified me.

I’ve had highs and heartbreaks. Pivot after pivot. But that name? It holds weight. That work ethic? Unmatched. That versatility? Proven. And above all else, that integrity? Still standing, unbothered and untarnished. I wasn’t the loudest in the room. I wasn’t trying to go viral. I stayed grounded. I studied the moment. I played the play. And now, the legacy speaks before I do.

My orchard is abundant. The fruit is sweet. My mentees, my students, my peers, you are my ripple effect. Thank you for reminding me that the light I carry still reaches.

Here’s to what’s next: to the pivots, to the elevation, to the alignment that keeps choosing me. The calling isn’t linear. It’s ascension. It’s ancestral. It’s mine.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. 💫

I was so busy just being present yesterday with you… 🥺

I didn’t get to hold you like most mothers do, upon receiving you into the world. you were whisked away to work on your lungs…but when they did bring you to me, you were a dream to get lost in…
I could not believe such a beautiful human had chosen me as their home. I would just hold you and stare in awe. I am still very much enamored with you in this way…I can’t believe you’re my little heartbeat outside of my body. What an ongoing honor it is to be your mother. Celebrating 13 years and 10 months of loving you, with a lifetime to go. I could not think of a better assignment, gift or light to experience. You are pure, a true soul sent here on the mission to make the world a better place. You are one of one Zoë Janelle…
Teenager by tenure, I will try to accept, but you will always be my beautiful baby. Happy Happy 13th Birthday, mommy loves you to the farthest universe.

To Our Village, thank you for always loving her infinitely. We are never without gratitude for how intentionally you give yourself to her betterment.
Thank you 🫶🏽

To All the Mamas,
They say when the child is born, so is the mother. Becoming a mother means to fall in love with your flaws, it is the most vulnerable energy I know. You must be willing to forgive yourself over and over again. To light a fire, when yours is dampened by simultaneous tears of joy and fear. It is the most rewarding and the most exhausting experience. But there is a treasure that cannot be explained. This journey had been no easy fete. It has been hard work and the job I have never clocked out of… so show your kids the good and the bad, the pain and the pleasure.
You are raising humans, so be one 🫶🏽
