POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Easter is often spoken of as a season of renewal. Here in East Indonesia, we see that renewal in simpler, tougher, and more honest ways. We see it in children who still smile after walking long roads. In families who continue to care for one another with almost nothing. In villages where dignity survives distance, poverty, untreated illness, unsafe water, and the daily burden of life far from care.

At @fairfuturefoundation and @kawanbaikindonesia foundations, Easter is not just an idea. It is something we see in the field. It lives in the hands that share food, in the roads that still lead us to remote homes, in the quiet strength of mothers, fathers, and children who keep going. It lives in every act of care, every treatment given, every wound cleaned, every child followed, every family supported, every community that refuses to give up.

These images matter to us because they reflect what we believe deeply: health is not only medicine. It is presence. It is kindness. It is clean water, safe childhood, nutrition, prevention, protection, and the simple right to live with dignity. Easter reminds us that even in tough places, life continues to rise through human bonds, courage, and care.

Today, from all of us on the ground, we want to thank you. Thank you for reading, for standing with us, for believing that the most isolated lives matter just as much as any other. Thank you for helping us continue this work, step by step, village by village, patient by patient.

We wish you a peaceful Easter, filled with humanity, strength, tenderness, and meaning. From our teams in the field to you, with all our heart, thank you.

Out here in East Sumba, progress rarely begins with big buildings. It begins with people sitting together around a table, sharing knowledge, solving problems, and preparing the next step for their communities.

For years, our team has been working across remote villages, training community health workers, fighting malaria, building water systems, bringing solar energy to schools, and delivering medical care where there are no doctors. But as our programs grow, one reality becomes clearer every day: our current space is no longer enough.

The @fairfuturefoundation and @kawanbaikindonesia teams works in cramped rooms. Equipment is stored wherever there is space. Meetings happen wherever we can gather. And yet, the work continues because the needs are real.

Rumah Kambera is the next step.

A place where medical supplies can be organized properly.
A place where local health agents can be trained.
A place where communities can meet, learn, and plan together.
A place where logistics, medicine, and knowledge come together to serve the people of Sumba.

This new center is not just a building. It is the foundation for stronger healthcare, stronger communities, and stronger local capacity for the years ahead.

Scan the QR code to explore the full Rumah Kambera project.

Because real change is built step by step, together.

Every year we publish a report. Not to fill pages, but to show what really happens in the places where we work.

In East Sumba, healthcare does not begin in hospitals. It begins on dirt roads, in villages without electricity, in schools where children still study after sunset with a small solar lamp. It begins with clean water, with prevention, with local health agents who know every family in their community.

In 2025, together with local partners, teachers, health workers and villagers, we continued building practical solutions. Medical care where none exists. Water systems in remote areas. Malaria prevention. Health education. Equipment for hospitals. Energy for schools.

Nothing spectacular. Just the slow, constant work of making life safer, healthier and more dignified.

This report is a transparent account of that work.

Scan the QR code in the last slide to download the full 2025 Annual Report.

Thank you to everyone who has been walking this road with us for nearly 18 years.

In Praiwangga, one of the most isolated villages, we face a real battle against malaria.

With no water system or electricity, medical care is hours away, making prevention vital. Did you know that malaria, a disease caused by Plasmodium parasites transmitted by Anopheles mosquitoes, remains a major global health challenge?

Under a simple wooden shelter, families gathered to learn about this dangerous but preventable disease. We explained the mosquito lifecycle and the importance of swift action when symptoms appear. Through interactive demonstrations, posters, and role-play exercises, we made complex medical information understandable and actionable.

In homes made of bamboo, where mosquitoes enter easily, each family was given long-lasting insecticide-treated nets. These nets, a product of scientific innovation, are a simple yet powerful tool. We guided them on installation and maintenance to maximise protection.

Every household became a hub of awareness with posters reinforcing daily vigilance.

We wrapped up with a Q&A session, rewarding correct answers with items that offer protection, reinforcing their learning.

This day was about demystifying science, spreading clarity, and empowering families with tangible tools to combat malaria. Join us in spreading awareness. Follow @fairfuturefoundation and @kawanbaikindonesia to do your part in this crucial fight for health.

Waimarang welcomed us warmly and offered comfortable shelter. Families gathered, including many from Papua New Guinea.

Our mission started with an important lesson on the silent spread of malaria in these remote areas, where stagnant water, long distances, and limited access to healthcare increase the risks.

Using rapid diagnostic tests, our team identified several positive cases among children and adults, allowing for prompt treatment and encouraging families to adopt healthier habits at home. Each participant received two educational posters showing the symptoms, mosquito behaviour, and straightforward prevention methods. These posters are now displayed in homes, turning them into small prevention centres.

To strengthen our efforts, we distributed mosquito nets—one per bedroom—so each family could sleep safely during peak mosquito activity hours. This day was filled with hope, uniting people from different regions around a common aim: health, safety, and practical solutions.

Join the fight against malaria and support our awareness initiatives! A big thank you to our valued partners: @fairfuturefoundation and @kawanbaikindonesia.

𝗜𝗻 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗮, 𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝘆𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴.

The stagnant water behind homes serves as a breeding ground for thousands of Anopheles mosquitoes, the primary vectors of malaria. This underscores the importance of Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS). Our dedicated teams wear full protective gear because of the insecticide's high toxicity. Every action we undertake is carefully managed, with the insecticide's dilution precisely measured. While technicians spray the interior walls—favoured resting spots for mosquitoes after feeding—families step outside briefly.

These homes, often constructed from bamboo, wood, and earth, not only sustain humidity but also provide ideal hiding places for mosquitoes. With IRS, the risk of malaria transmission is greatly diminished, offering protection for several months and shielding our most vulnerable community members.

At the same time, our field officers diligently review forms, verify coverage, and engage with families to discuss the positive impact of IRS. This initiative exemplifies public health in practice, especially in remote areas where malaria continually endangers the health of children, adults, and elders alike.

Together with @fairfuturefoundation and @kawanbaikindonesia, we make prevention tangible—embodied in effort, knowledge, and unwavering presence.

Malaria cannot be tackled through guesswork. It demands an accurate diagnosis. In Waingapu, we held a two-day training for about thirty microscopists from East Sumba, featuring educators from Kupang and our own skilled medical team. We carefully reviewed each step, from a simple finger prick to achieving a reliable diagnosis under the microscope.

Participants practised preparing both thick and thin blood smears, perfecting their staining techniques and microscope adjustments to ensure clear images. They learned to identify Plasmodium parasites, estimate parasite density, and crucially, avoid false negatives that could leave children untreated. Emphasis was placed on safe blood handling and basic biosafety at every station, as protecting staff and patients is essential.

We examined the relationship between rapid diagnostic tests and microscopy, discussing strategic use, especially in remote areas. Our two malaria posters displayed on the walls illustrated symptoms, the mosquito life cycle, and home prevention methods in a straightforward way that families can easily understand.

As a final part of the course, each analyst examined blinded slides to assess their progress. The East Sumba Malaria Prevention Project continues to develop, gradually building local expertise to support communities far from any hospital.

Join us in making a difference! Support the fight against malaria with @fairfuturefoundation and @kawanbaikindonesia. Together, we can create healthier futures.

Here, rebar installation and concrete work are central to the project. Picture this: each rebar carefully cut, shaped, tied, and aligned by hand, all on a steep limestone slope. Creating the formwork was a massive task, assembled piece by piece using timber transported from roads we painstakingly restored just weeks earlier.

Concrete mixing became an all-consuming task, with mixers running nonstop and teams tirelessly hauling gravel, sand, and water up the hill. Every batch was thoroughly tested for strength and consistency—a testament to the reservoir's structural integrity. Unpredictable weather, from sudden rains to scorching dry spells, dictated our pace, prompting inventive solutions like quick tarp covers and taking advantage of dry spells for levelling and curing.

This collaborative effort with the villagers is transformative. Here, everyone from the community joins forces with our teams, united by the realisation that this reservoir will provide clean, reliable water. As the concrete slab finally set under the sun, it marked a pivotal moment: Laindatang's journey towards a sustainable water source.

Join us in this rewarding endeavour. Every bit helps! Please support our mission by connecting with @fairfuturefoundation and @kawanbaikindonesia. Thank you very much.
