I love @iamshaeo perspective the creator economy and encouraging experts and academics to get involved and seeing the her growth is inspiring so I had to add my 2 cents. The translation of lived experience into public knowledge is valuable and a huge part of the creator economy no matter who you are.

Salvation by bell hooks | @chantressseba

Today, bells reminded me that Black capitalism and Black self determination are not the same thing. The focus on capitalism has historically clouded and distorted communal and self love. A state of being that is central to liberation and salvation. Emphasizing the need for people to relearn how to love Black people and rekindling Black self-love and communal care. Honoring Black love as a tide that can rise all ships.

🌕💫🧘🏽 the way this moon is a little *too* comfortable in my 1H right now…. this week is hitting me with a whole range of discomforts, growth edges and tender feelings 🪞🌊

some of the ways i alchemize heavy feelings is by of course, resting, bumping ‘full moon’ ‘art of war’ and ‘the crone’ by my sistar @melansoulflower, and making plans to be in community spaces so i don’t slip into isolation. feeling really grateful for the consistent markets & opportunities to connect with folks rooted wellness and support.

Our June Punk themed fireside chat had all the punk and deeper than punk moments! Our host Ramel Wallace chatted with Tim Pyles on his journey, from the beginnings to what drew together such strong bonds, and the resourcefulness that came from this that persisted the whole way! Thank you Tim, for sharing with us glimpses in to backstage of your inspiring adventures!

Every month we’re so grateful to be hosted by the San Diego Library and this month was no different, even bringing in the fun chairs for our stage set up! Next month, due to Comic Con, we will be at a new location, so stay tuned for those details.

Thank you Better Buzz for the coffee this month, helping us out in a pinch! To our ongoing Big Brother Big Sister, we appreciate you! Don’t forget to connect with them and find out how you can become someone’s BIG. Our savory breakfast dreams came true with Mission Bagels! And thank you Hudson Printing for the fun postcards, this month featuring the artwork of Lindy Ivey.

Our 30second pitches are filling up instantaneously these days! Thank you to everyone that gets on the stage and shares about the awesome things they’re doing in our community. If you’re curious about sharing your event, product, business, sign up sheet hits the checkin table at 8:15am!

We are so lucky for the entire team of volunteers, from our core team to the amazing monthly volunteers checking you in and pouring your coffee. And thanks to our Media Team, Steve Wahl on video and Gina Ribando on photo, you can reminisce and revisit our talk!

See you this month on July 25th, and keep an eye out for our location!
