This year was HARD. But they say choose your Hard.

To be frank, every choice was worth making. It was most certainly not easy. Most definitely didn’t feel like the right decision at times but man let me tell you. I haven’t been tested in this way. 😮‍💨

The first photo was taken at Midnight 1/1/24. I was on the verge of tears not spending time with family or friends I was stuck recutting a piece of floor that I couldn’t seem to cut precisely. LVP running through 3 door ways. This entire year was full of LVP running through three door ways kinda Hard. 🔨

Yet here we are, blessed to see another year. ♥️

2024 will forever hold a special place in my journey. The year I stormed the capital. The year we added a fur baby. The year The Bachelor Boyz took over Austin, Texas. Shout to my CZ Boyz!. The year my Father conquered. The year my Mothers prayers were answered. The year I became a Husband. The year the Ortega’s grew. 🌹

2024 made me work for everything I’ve wanted. Had me asking what kind of man I wanted to be at the end of it all. For that I’m eternally grateful. I’ve acquired and experienced so much this year. 🥲

To my friends and family that supported and believed in Lupita and I thank you! We truly are loved in such a special way it’s Hard not to prevail! ❤️‍🔥

To my Wife…WE DID IT! 😭🥲😭
Thank you for choosing us when it got Really Hard. None of this would of been possible without you Baby. 😚
Till death do us part! 🥂and to the next life we will find each other Mi Reyna 👸🏻

As some of you know my Dad has been battling cancer for more than 2 years now.

We been fighting this together with the love, support, and prayer from our family and friends. We are eternally grateful for those who continue to fight with us. 🙏🏽

The impact my Dad leaves on those who cross paths with him is strong. My Dad is a funny man who is charming and charismatic, but also a man of few words. He’s by far one of the strongest man I know, it’s an honor to call him my Father. ❤️‍🔥

I believe it in my heart that this battle is only part of his journey and his story. 💪🏽

I remember the moment I hit call & the phone started ringing...this was the surrealist moment I can remember. This was the first time I ever called a mental health counselor.
The phone started ringing & I almost hung up. My thoughts were racing & I remember thinking to myself. "Hang up. It's not that serious. Your not that bad." But I took a deep breath & realized that I (and probably like most others) for the first time am asking for help & felt/said the same thing. The call went to voicemail. I hung up. And called again. This time I left a voicemail.
I remember the first time walking into my counselor's office. She handed me a test & I filled in the bubbles. Ironic, there I was a psychology major filling out a personality test. A similar test I spent nights studying. I wasnt diagnosed with something severe. Tbh I wasnt really diagnosed. I needed someone to talk to. She was very kind & human as they come. She described what I was going through as depression. Which I couldnt agree more. The second session we had she recommended this book. 👆

I began the first chapter & within that chapter I learned about acceptance & my coping mechanisms describe in this book. This book was different from any text book. My 3rd session was suppose to be rescheduled. As it was cinco de mayo weekend & she scheduled me when she was already booked for a flight. (Again, she is as human as they come)
My 3rd session was never rescheduled.
Tbh I havent finished this book. But I have read further than where I started.
Tbh I still get depressed from time to time. Its not something I'm ashamed of, but not something that I wear on my sleeve. I'm fortunate to be where I am and who I am today. Other cases some ppl may not be able to express this.
In honor of Mental Health Awareness month. I hope my story may shed some light. If we can normalize needles in our mouth or arms and can ask for help with physical health. We should be able to normalize a conversation and help with our mental health.
Your life is precious. You matter. Dont be afraid to reach out. It's not bc you are weak but bc you are strong.
