POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Wrapping up a life-changing week of teaching and performing at Rancho La Puerta with my dear friend and collaborator Susannah Mars. We supported Ranch guests in honoring their grief through vocal exploration, journaling and walking the land. It was an honor to witness many brave and creative expressions of healing. We are never alone when we share our hearts with one another.

Deep thanks to the incredible leaders and staff at the Ranch for providing exquisite food, programs and accommodations. If you are looking for a reset at the highest level in a true paradise, this place can help you.

Four hours of hiking before lunch is a rather different proposition from an afternoon beside the pool. At the more immersive end of wellness travel, days are structured around movement, hydrotherapy and time away from screens. Meals follow carefully considered nutritional principles, while treatments become part of a wider programme rather than occasional indulgences. The intention extends beyond relaxation, creating space to establish habits that ordinary holidays rarely accommodate. What happens between treatments can be just as important as the treatments themselves.

Preventative medicine has also introduced a more scientific dimension to the wellness landscape. Advanced diagnostics, personalised consultations and longevity programmes offer an increasingly detailed understanding of physical health. Rather than addressing immediate concerns alone, the emphasis shifts towards identifying patterns and supporting wellbeing over time. Sleep, nutrition and recovery become subjects of closer examination, informed by individual needs rather than universal prescriptions. The experience can be as intellectually engaging as it is physically restorative, particularly when medical insight translates into practical changes.

Yet some of the most enduring approaches to wellbeing long predate modern diagnostics. Traditional healing rituals, water-based therapies and practices rooted in the natural environment offer a different perspective on restoration. Time spent in thermal waters, meditation spaces or gardens allows attention to settle on the body’s quieter responses. These experiences place as much value on awareness and consistency as they do on measurable outcomes. The lasting benefit often lies in understanding which practices deserve a place in everyday life.

Some places collect awards. Rancho La Puerta has been quietly setting the standard since 1940.

Travel + Leisure readers have now named it the World’s #1 International Wellness Retreat eight times. I’m not surprised so many guests come back year after year. It’s 3,000 acres at the foot of Mount Kuchumaa in Tecate, just over the border from San Diego. Mornings start with a sunrise hike, lunch comes from the ranch’s own organic farm, and the week moves at a pace that leaves room to think. I think it’s one of the best wellness weeks you can book close to home.

If you’ve been curious, this is a lovely time to try it. Reserve by December 26 for travel through January 2, 2027, and you’ll get a guaranteed upgrade, two Ranch Classic massages and a 30-minute body wrap. If an upgrade isn’t available, you’ll get a $200 resort credit instead.

Go by yourself or bring a friend? Let’s get you booked!

Not all waves happen in the water. 🌅💙

Sometimes they’re found in quiet mornings, beautiful views, and taking a moment to appreciate where you are.

A little Friday inspiration from Rancho La Puerta, where we’re making waves both in and out of the pool! 🌊

Here’s your reminder to find a little beauty in your day.
