“I said ‘wow’ not ‘how?’”✋🏻 - @laurenemagnifico
World’s quickest trip to NOLA to see @yelyahwilliams play last night. Also ran into her band while strolling around and was able to give them bracelets I made 🥲 (last video is of @loganjoelmackenzie wearing the one I gave him). Time to take a very quick break and then do it again tomorrow in Southaven so y’all *WILL* be hearing from me again in about 36 hours.

In my opinion, the character of a man is judged by how they treat the women in their lives. There’s a lot of men in politics who shouldn’t be there, but @justinjpearson isn’t one of them. He’s the real deal. Early voting starts Oct 14th and if you are in district 9, you need to get out the vote for Pearson!!

✨Let us introduce ourselves✨

👋 We are a group of Memphians concerned about the Fairgrounds' future (Liberty Park for our newer Memphians). Memphis City Council is looking to lease out the Pipkin Building (940 Early Maxwell Dr.) to a private business.

🚫 Losing this building would adversely affect nonprofits, staple Memphis events, and community organizations.

💯 Preserving public community assets, like the Pipkin, is VITAL to Memphis. The Pipkin Building has served as a warming/cooling center, emergency response facility, and more for generations!

Last night, The Immigrant Pantry joined organizations from across Memphis for an emergency community town hall supporting families impacted by last weekend’s raid at El Corralón.

We came face to face with mothers, fathers, spouses and children experiencing extraordinary fear and trauma. We distributed food directly to families, provided gift cards for immediate needs, diapers and formula for babies, toys and books for children, and connected families with our pantry for continued support.

Since the raid, requests for help have skyrocketed. Families have lost loved ones and breadwinners overnight—but groceries still have to be bought, babies still need formula, and bills still have to be paid.

The cameras may eventually leave. We won’t.

More than 100 volunteers power this pantry simply because they saw what was happening to their neighbors and decided they would not sit silently.

Now we need you. ❤️

Our immigrant neighbors should not have to carry the fear, the trauma and the responsibility of responding to this crisis alone.

We belong to one another. And we’re going to keep showing up.

I’m not sure how 17 years went by so fast, but I couldn’t be more proud of the person you’ve become and everything that’s ahead of you. Being your dad is one of the greatest gifts life has given me. Happy 17th birthday, Riley. Love you forever, dude! ❤️#17

The #NoKings protest last weekend turned violent when Memphis Police pepper sprayed protestors.

Whether it was justified remains to be seen, which is why @mayorpaulyoung has called for an investigation. Unfortunately, the Speaker of the House and a state senator, as well as the local GOP have passed judgment to score political points with their base.

There are some who will never believe that this level of force was justified and others who will always believe law enforcement has done nothing wrong, but Mayor Young has done the right thing to get the answers.
