🧪📚 Slab Spotlight: 111 - Professor Elm’s Lecture 📚🧪

Class is officially in session! 👨‍🏫✨

Today’s spotlight is this Professor Elm’s Lecture sitting beautifully and this is one of those cards where the artwork is just packed with character.

Professor Elm looks like he’s got his hands completely full, surrounded by Totodile, Chikorita and Cyndaquil, and we love how much energy there is in the illustration. Nothing feels posed or overly serious it’s colourful, chaotic and fun, which gives the card so much personality.

Then you’ve got those colours. 🔥

The explosive oranges, reds and yellows immediately grab your attention, while the blues and greens from the characters cut through all that warmth beautifully. Even the slab label carries those fiery tones upwards, making the whole piece feel incredibly cohesive.

For our background, we wanted to take the “Professor Elm’s Lecture” name and run with it. 📖

We’ve placed the slab into a warm, sunlit learning space, surrounded by books, notebooks, stationery and little Pokémon-inspired classroom details. The wooden desk and golden afternoon light continue those orange tones from the artwork, while the greenery and blue sky help balance everything out.

It feels like Professor Elm has just walked into class to give a lecture… although judging by the artwork, we’re not entirely sure how much teaching is actually getting done. 😂

A brilliantly fun card, huge nostalgic energy and another slab where the artwork gave us the perfect inspiration for the world around it.

🌿✨ Slab Spotlight: 110 - Erika’s Invitation 🌿✨

There’s something seriously special about this Erika’s Invitation and this slab deserved a setting to match it. 🌸

The artwork has such a beautiful, peaceful feel soft illustration, delicate botanical details and a warm, almost storybook atmosphere. Erika sitting amongst all the flowers and greenery gives the card so much character, with plenty of little details to take in.

The colour palette is what really makes this one stand out for us. Soft greens, warm creams, earthy browns and gentle pinks all work together perfectly, with the warmer tones giving the artwork that cosy, vintage feel. 🌿🌷

For the background, we wanted to carry those same colours and vibes beyond the card. So we went with a sunlit botanical studio, filled with climbing flowers, glass bottles, old books and wooden textures. The golden sunlight brings out the warm tones in the slab while the greenery complements the softer colours in the artwork.

It feels almost like the card has been placed inside its own little hidden garden. 🌱☀️

A gorgeous piece of artwork, a Gem Mint 10, and a background designed to let the card itself take centre stage.

Erika’s Invitation. A proper little work of art. 💚🌸

💧❄️ Slab Spotlight: 109 - Spheal 💧❄️

Sometimes the quieter artworks are the ones that hit hardest. 💙

This Spheal slab is such a beautiful example of that. The artwork is simple, soft and almost storybook-like! a little group of Spheal drifting and snoozing amongst the ice, surrounded by deep ocean blues, frosty whites and those warm buttery yellow bellies that instantly stand out against the cold.

But we wanted the scene to go further than the edges of the card… 🌊❄️

For our background, we took those same icy blues and crisp whites and expanded them into a huge frozen landscape. Glacial mountains, floating ice sheets, calm reflective water and gentle snowfall all carry the atmosphere of the original artwork out into the surrounding world.

And of course, a few sleepy Spheal have escaped the artwork too… 👀😂

The bright blue sky keeps everything light and playful, while the sunlight bouncing across the snow, water and clear slab gives the whole piece that fresh, almost sparkling frozen feel.

The result feels less like a card placed onto a background and more like the slab is sitting right in the middle of its own little frozen world. 🧊✨

That’s exactly what we love about creating these Slab Spotlights. 💎

What do we think of this one? 👀

💧 Slab Spotlight: 108 - Azurill 💧

Sometimes the quieter artworks are the ones that really shine… and this Azurill is a perfect example. ✨

The artwork has such a soft, storybook feel to it. Azurill bouncing happily through a peaceful waterside garden, surrounded by layers of wildflowers, greenery and those warm wooden posts running through the scene. It’s simple, cheerful and absolutely packed with charm. 💙🌼

The colours are what really make this one pop. Soft greens and earthy yellows dominate the artwork, broken up beautifully by Azurill’s bright blue and the flashes of pink, purple and red from the flowers. Then you catch those rainbow holo streaks cutting across the card and suddenly the whole thing comes alive. 🌈

For our background, we wanted the artwork to feel like it simply carried on beyond the borders of the card.

So we extended that peaceful little world into a sun drenched meadow filled with wildflowers, flowing water, wooden posts and a distant waterfall. The warm golden sunlight and subtle rainbow glow tie back into the holo perfectly, while the bright blue stream pulls Azurill’s colours right out into the surrounding scene.

No distractions. No extra characters.

Just the world of the artwork spilling straight out of the slab. 🌿💧✨

A small Pokémon. A seriously beautiful Art Rare.

This is what Slab Spotlight is all about. 💎
