POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Been on a bit of a whirlwind over the last few days. Saturday was the Rusty Chains Chris Cornell benefited for the SF Suicide Prevention Fund at the GAMH. It was an absolute smash / home run!

I’ve been a part of a few of these over the years. They’re always fun & the cause is just. This year was especially magical. All of the artists were on top of their respective games. It seemed like every performance was ratcheting up as the night went.

I got goosebumps & tears in my eyes more than once in the time I was there.

Getting to play Mailman (one of my favorite Soundgarden deep tracks) with these amazing people was beautiful. It’s such an odd blues number & we’d never practiced it all together. Three of us hit it once at soundcheck without the drummer and the bassist. That tells you just how well everyone did their homework. We gelled in the moment.

The woman you hear singing is Shannon Harris (McCray) previously from Spike 1000. A band that I played with many times over the years well with Manmade God. She’s got so much power & emotion. We had to match her intensity. Alongside her was the guys in Velvet Grave:
Joe Faria (guitar)
Kyle Mendes (bass/vox)
Jake DeRieux (Drums)

I’m humbled by the entire experience. Massive thanks to all the guys in Rusty Chains for their successful benefit!

Our final rehearsal this week was another heartfelt, incredible get together of musical friends and family. People have crossed, oceans and deserts and traversed many states to be here and show up at these rehearsals and the show! The effort that is put in for this cause is absolutely amazing. It’s never easy for those folks and never cheap. Thanks to everyone for all of your time and effort towards helping others in need. Tonight is the night! Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. Every cent we make at the door and through our merchandise sales and donations goes directly to San Francisco suicide prevention. Thank you, Stephen for always being such a gracious host for all of these rehearsals. Hope to see you at the show!
