In today’s super positive and optimistic society, you’ll likely all scroll through remembering the paint color. I grew up in a yellow house with a red brick-bordered pool so this home is a bit nostalgic for me, on a few levels. I drove over last night around 8:30pm to hang the sign after I got the text that the post was installed. The sun had just set and while I drove over the bridge onto the island, I watched a few kids with fishing poles pack up their gear and hop back on their bikes from the shore of Humboldt Park. For a split second, I wanted nothing more than to travel back 25 years in time to be with my friends. I have endless memories using a rope to tow each other around the harbor behind a dingy while getting yelled at by the harbor patrol like we didn’t know we had a motor on the back. Catching jack smelt off the dock to use as bait for sharks and halibut. Jumping off bridges, and even more daringly, swimming through the submerged sewer lines at high tide ‘knowing’ we wouldn’t drown because lore spoke that someone else had made it through before us. In the past year, there have only been two off-water homes that have sold on Humboldt Island, and it’s not a coincidence that only two homes on the island have sold under $2m in the last year either. Maybe you leash your children and think you’re doing them a favor by ‘protecting’ them. But if you’re like me and you understand that calculated risks reward your children with growth, independence, self-confidence, and executive brain function, then I couldn’t think a more perfect place to raise a family. Realtors are great at generalizing and saying “the perfect family home!” but I never see anyone explain why. On Humboldt Island, this is your ‘why.’ If you’re in the market to purchase, come visit me on Saturday during open house while the sun is shining and by the time you drive through the neighborhood and over the bridge, I don’t think I’ll need to speak much more 🩵🏝️

Good people and good times at the @compass_oc annual holiday party. Our CEO flew in just to be present, then after spending some time with us all, hopped in a car and drove an hour and a half to be down with our San Diego division. When I started selling real estate, I thought I was going to be the best because I would have the most clever marketing tactics. Then I thought maybe I’d be the best because I could analyze and interpret data. I figured I’d win if I could just see a little bit further into the future than the other guys. Is it summer yet? I’m missing one of my favorite past times… sitting at the bar at @thehbhouse drinking my mock-tail, judging strangers as they pass by. On any normal day, I usually whisper, “what the f*ck,” to myself at least 15 times. In a professional setting we use the word ‘eccentric,’ but we all know that secretly means ‘bat-sh*t crazy.’ That being said, what’s the most ‘eccentric,’ thing you’ve seen on the HB boardwalk? These comments should be good 😂🤣
