Living Room Sessions — “Olufemi”

During my Living Room Sessions in Lagos, I had the incredible privilege of interpreting a song that is very, very dear to me — “Olufemi.”

The song was written, recorded, sung and produced by my greatest musical idol and mentor, Fela Kuti. Fela’s music, spirit and fearless approach to creativity have influenced me deeply, so being able to stand in front of an audience and render this song live is something I don’t take for granted.

It was truly an honour — and, in many ways, a dream come true.

I invited about 20 close friends, including dear friends from the Lagos Jazz Society, to share this intimate moment with me. We listened, sang, felt the music and simply enjoyed the beauty of the song together.

I’m deeply grateful for the privilege of interpreting this piece and for everyone who came to share the moment.

Fela, thank you. ❤️
