If you drop closed clips in Barbicide or comparable disinfectant- you’re not disinfecting them.

✨ Step 1: Soap & water. Detergent breaks down oils, skin cells, and product that disinfectants can’t touch. If you skip this, you’re disinfecting through dirt which doesn’t work.

✨ Step 2:Open every hinge. Clips and springs trap debris. That’s why I clip mine to a towel before submerging it forces soap and disinfectant inside the prongs. When clips are closed- the compression doesn’t allow the disinfectant to touch every surface. A saturated towel on the other hand…

✨ Step 3: Rinse, then disinfect. Barbicide only works on clean surfaces. It does not “magically dissolve” residue. Clean first, then soak.

✨ Step 4: Dry completely. Wet metal breeds bacteria. Tools go back to work only once they’re fully dry.

If your stylist doesn’t know how to properly sanitize, they’re gambling with your scalp health.

Drop CLEAN if you’re ready to learn extensions like a professional, not a hobbyist.

This isn’t dandruff. This isn’t “just dry scalp.”

This is an ✨infection✨.

When you see yellow crust like this, it’s the body’s way of saying something is wrong.

Here’s the truth: infections don’t show up out of nowhere. They happen when:
✨Dirty hair is installed on
✨Clips, combs, and needles aren’t properly sanitized
✨Rows are installed with too much tension, breaking the skin
✨Clients scratch opening the skin and bacteria under fingernails enter open skin
✨Stylists skip proper cleansing of scalp & extension hair at reinstallation

A bug bite, ripping a hair out, scratching, or simply nicking the scalp during an install can all create an entry point for bacteria.

& every one of us carries bacteria under our nails it only takes one break in the skin for infection to set in.

If you’re “learning extensions” from TikTok, YouTube, or some copy-paste method without real education, be CAREFUL.

👉 If you don’t know how to prep the scalp, cleanse your tools, and control tension, you are gambling with your client’s health.

I created @thelunamethod extension education has to include scalp awareness, hygiene, and science, not just “make it look flat.”

Drop SCALP below if you’re ready to be scalp alert!

DISCLAIMER: this is student work, don’t be a jerk.
