Things I wish I knew before I started lifting…

Progress in training isn’t random. It follows a handful of fundamental rules.
The more of them you respect, the better your results.
Ignore some, and you might still see progress — but you’ll eventually hit a wall.

The 8 Fundamentals of Training:
1️⃣ Stimulus – your body only adapts if the challenge is big enough.
2️⃣ Recovery – progress happens when you rest, not just when you train.
3️⃣ Specificity – you improve what you train. Nothing else.
4️⃣ Consistency – stop-start progress is no progress.
5️⃣ Individualization – one size never fits all.
6️⃣ Progression – you need to increase demands over time.
7️⃣ Variation – without change, your body adapts less.
8️⃣ Periodization – structure training in cycles for long-term success.

Consistency might be the one rule everyone knows…
But if you want sustainable results, you need to understand all 8.

I’ll break each of them down in upcoming posts so you can actually apply them to your own training.

👉 Follow if you want to train smarter, not just harder.
