In the 90’s I gave up playing in bands and started dj’ing house music inspired by my brother @robpaine1 who was killing it. I move to the mountains of Vermont around 93? and unexpectedly find a dancehall reggae scene fueled by the legendary Flex Records. I would be there every week and buy a couple house tunes, a few reggae 45’s and occasional roots repress, but slackness ran the time. After a few years of collecting reggae seriously, I talked by brother Rudeboy into trying to start a roots night as a balance to all the bashment events. Winter of 96 we start playing as Solomonic at the Chicken Bone to a bunch of confused locals. By spring we had a nice scene going and rival redneck establishment JP’s Pub offered to pay us double to move the event there. Rob was on the Flex program too, I would pull two copies of each record and @xratt.vt would mail em. Rob started a roots night in Philly in early 97 and was only natural to be Solomonic same way. @jahsonvt joined the sound and took over the Vermont events as I eventually fwd to Hawaii in 2004 and linked with @rasmikey. 30 years now and Solomonic still a play big tune. Give thanks
