When you support a small business, you also support their family.

When we started @pendulum.fitness, Zoe was 13 months old, and Chris was about 16 weeks pregnant with Owen. So our family has grown, just like the business, and our family has the front-row seat to this show.

I am incredibly grateful to have reached this significant milestone as a business. The percentage of companies that reach ten years is tiny. On top of that, to make it to 10 years after going through the pandemic as a gym seems like another milestone.

But here we are as husband and wife, with our kids joining us for the ride.

Thank you to our members, both past and present, who have supported us during this journey. And if we are honest, it feels like we are just getting started!

Years ago I coached an executive in a marketing department who wasn’t feeling seen or appreciated in the work place.

I asked her if she’d ever named her Love Language to know what type of affirmation made her light up the most.

We discovered that her love language was words of affirmation.

Her boss on the C-suite team had been giving her raises and bonuses but never stopping to tell her how much he appreciated her work.

She was floored at how true that felt. We brought it not only to her boss but also facilitated a workshop in the team of 60 people she managed.

As human beings we need to feel seen, appreciated and resourced—and yes, that requires in our workplace.

I love in this day and age that companies care about creating cultures where people get to understand themselves, each other and grow.

We spend 60-70% of our time at work.

Making space for workshops and experiences with a team to create vulnerability, intimacy and connection is the smartest thing a CEO can invest in.

People who feel like they belong, are seen and appreciated want to contribute and show up in a different way.

HR stands for Human Resources. Humans are a resource for a company, but not all CEO’s care about how resourced the people who work for them are.

I had the great pleasure of working with a CEO and company who does—I taught three workshops for Go Digital in Beverly Hills on their corporate retreat last month.

Bringing boundary exercises where people got to connect 1-1 on how they witnessed or didn’t witness boundaries in their family system.

Poetry workshops where people got to do art for art. Access the vulnerable and true parts of themselves and share it with the group.

Wellness workshops where we got to talk about how we are watering ourselves, how critical sleep and hydration and movement is for our capacity and wholeness. When a executive goes into survival in their nervous system because they aren’t in capacity—an entire team below them goes into survival.

It’s a necessity to take care of yourself if you take care of a team.

We also integrated that workshop with the embodied experience of what it feels like to take care of ourselves with @whitingenergy ❄️💨

You’re missing out on valuable movement for your body if you’re skipping out on warm-ups.

Who doesn’t love a good Allen Iverson reference. 😉
