A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening of Crwydro/Wanderings: Detours and Digressions @oriel_myrddin
The exhibition will be open until 6th June there will be a selection of accompanying events throughout including paper making workshops with @janeponsford and a couple of in-conversation events one with @wainwright.lauraj and @carwyngraves to follow in May.

A special thank you to @catherinespring and @ravater for your unwavering patience and support.

It’s been a long time in the planning. Gwrach/Witch was an @oriel_myrddin idea-in-discussion at the point of closing the building for a complete rework and expansion of the gallery spaces. The Pandemic and Lockdowns meant building-work was long delayed, and plans for an exhibition of my work of many years on the theme of Hansel & Gretel were on hold. However @catherinespring and @ravater at Oriel Myrddin never wavered in their determination to produce Gwrach/Witch as the inaugural exhibition of the 'new' Oriel Myrddin, and with guest curators appointed to bring a new energy to the plans, the exhibition will open later this year at a date to be announced.

It will include many original artworks for Simon Armitage's novella-length poem 'Hansel & Gretel: a Nightmare in Eight Scenes' published in editions by Design for Today and Faber & Faber. Also illustrations I made for a Hansel & Gretel picture-book for St. Jude's and original artworks for the Hansel & Gretel Toy Theatre published by Benjamin Pollock's Toyshop. There will be the work of artists who contributed to the 2018 stage adaptation of @simonarmitage_official’s poem, animations and film collaborations made for the production, found objects used as stage props, and at the heart of the exhibition, the puppets of Hansel and Gretel I designed, crafted by artist/puppet maker @janzalud_carves with costuming by @grapesodastudio and @recycling_sarah.

The curators are @meriel_hunt and @simon_costin, and the contributors include: @peterlloyd68, @philcoops, @chloeredfernembroidery, @davidwslack, @christophershawbookbinder, @peter_slight, @penfoldpress, @designfortoday, @stjudes, @benjamin_pollocks_toyshop and Pete Telfer.
