The pastel layer of the last of my Vancouver goddesses is complete—at least, the last for now.

I’ve enjoyed creating these portraits so much that I already know I want to continue the series beyond this first group. There are so many more stories, experiences, and goddesses I want to explore.

So this is the last Vancouver goddess of this first batch, but definitely not the last Vancouver goddess. On now to the last of my Calgary goddesses

This series is made possible with support from Calgary Arts Development @calgaryartsdev

Kikay: Noon at Ngayon
Pintasera: Reva Diana @ravenbluecreative @rdiana
Model: Nicole Reyes @dyosadoe
Photos by Tet Millare

Reva's painting is entitled: IBON
The pieces explore the quiet cages we carry within ourselves: grief, fear, expectation, memory. The Luzon bleeding-heart dove, the hidden keys, and the restrained figure speak not only of longing for freedom, but of realizing liberation has always been within reach. Escape begins the moment we recognize we already hold the key.
Reva Diana is a Calgary-based Filipina visual artist working in painting, printmaking, and mixed-media processes. Her practice explores memory, domestic space, and inherited emotional environments through layered surfaces, material experimentation, and atmospheric imagery. Influenced by devotional iconography, diasporic experience, and the colonial history of the Philippines, her work investigates how preservation, care, and belonging can coexist with distance, vigilance, and quiet systems of control.
Reva's process combines acrylic, oil, egg tempera, gold leaf, carving, and printmaking techniques including linocut, drypoint, and monoprint. Through both additive and subtractive methods, she creates works that reveal underlying structures through layering, removal, and surface tension. Her practice is research-driven and centered on sensory experience, inviting viewers to encounter familiar spaces and objects that gradually reveal emotional and psychological complexity

The artist collective is amply called the Pintaseras, from the word Pinta or paint in Tagalog and Pintas which is Ilocano (another major dialect in the Philippines) for beauty.

Kikay: Noon at Ngayon (translates to Kikay: Then and Now) was Produced by Lead Artist/Designer Day Parajillo through the funding from Calgary Arts Development. Co-Organized by Cecilia Alcaraz (Executive Director of Salingpusa, a Filipino Arts non-profit organization here in Mohkinstsis).

Kikay: Noon at Ngayon is a celebration of our beloved Filipina dress, the Terno, through a unique and triumphant convergence of Filipina visual arts, couture, music and dance.

Photos by Tet Millare

This tour-de-force event featured 15 Filipina painters - 3 from Europe and 12 right here in Calgary - all in one place that has never been seen before in Canada. The artist collective is amply called the Pintaseras, from the word Pinta or paint in Tagalog and Pintas which is Ilocano (another major dialect in the Philippines) for beauty.

How to even begin explaining my experience with @qvarantine.events . It’s entirely unexplainable, actually. Which is good cause I’m also not allowed to! 😂

I want to thank every mentor for their incredible lectures, but my mentors @yashayoungprojects @edwardpovey @jawcooper in particular from the bottom of my heart for every second of their time they gave me. I feel like I learnt things that would have taken years and years of trial and error otherwise, or maybe I never would have learnt them at all. I am truly a changed artist and person from this experience. I feel a bit like my insides have been blown out, and I’m wondering why on earth I didn’t see all of these things before. Like I was underwater. thank you❤️

And the biggest thank you in the world goes to my parents, without whom I would not have gone🥺❤️
