Reasons why your spray tan isn’t lasting……

1. Dry skin/Not Moisturizing- Dry patches absorb the tanning solution unevenly, leading to patchy and uneven color. When your skin is dehydrated it can cause it to flake or shed more quickly, causing the tan to fade faster.

2. Using Dove Products- Many dove products contain sulfites and certain alcohols which can strip the skin of its natural oils. This can lead to uneven absorption of the tanning solution, and/or the tan to be patchy / less vibrant. Also, the fragrance that is used can alter the color in the longevity of your tan.

3. Not Exfoliating- Dead skin cells create an uneven surface for the tanning solution. This can cause the tan to cling to dry patches, leading to a patchy appearance. Additionally, without exfoliation, the skin may shed those dead cells more quickly, making the tan fade unevenly.

4. Frequent Shaving- Removes the top layer of skin, which can lead to uneven fading. When you shave, especially right after applying a spray tan, you may remove some of the tanned skin along with the hair, resulting in patchiness. Additionally, shaving can cause irritation or redness, making the tan look less vibrant.

5. Using products with mineral oil- Mineral oil creates a barrier on the skin that can interfere with the absorption of the tanning solution. This barrier can prevent the tan from developing evenly and may cause it to fade more quickly. Additionally, mineral oil can lead to an oily surface, making it harder for the spray tan to adhere properly, resulting in a less vibrant color and uneven fading.

6. Taking long hot showers/baths- Hot water opens up the pores and can lead to quicker fading. The heat and prolonged exposure to water can cause the tanning solution to wash away more rapidly, especially during the first few days after application when the tan is still developing. Hot water can dry out the skin, creating an uneven surface that contributes to patchiness.
