The people of the Ube Bloc Party 🎉 Was approached to play at this event a week prior and walked away more connected to the community more than ever. I love seeing my filo brothers and sisters find success in their individual spaces, while continuing Filipino culture through something as simple as Ube. Not only did the pastries and drinks taste amazing, but the stories behind each stall spoke of hard work and perseverance through all kinds of adversity. At the very core of it, that’s truly what being a Filipino is about. Was a pleasure meeting everyone and thank you for your Ube!!!

Some events feel like heavy work while some events just feel like a party with friends. This one was definitely the latter. When @ken_u_can invited us to join the Ube Bloc Party at @sleepybloc , we honestly weren’t sure at first. We don’t really do market pop-ups as Taguan. We’ve done events before representing a different brand, but Taguan has always felt more tied to a space, a table, a home. Also realistically speaking… we didn’t really have the equipment, systems, or operational plan for it. 😂 So we kind of just took pieces of the café with us and hoped for the best. The food, the people, the energy, the chaos. Somehow it worked? Mostly because we knew we’d be surrounded by people we genuinely love and consider friends and family here. And thankfully, we weren’t wrong. The whole day just felt easy in the best way possible. Amazing people everywhere, familiar faces from the community randomly appearing, people reconnecting over food, music playing in the background, everyone slightly chaotic but happy. At some point it stopped feeling like a pop-up and just felt like a family gathering. Feeling at home, wherever you are. I think that’s our favourite thing about the community. Sometimes you build something thinking you’re just serving food, then one day you look around and realise people are building the space with you too. Really grateful to Ken and the Sleepy Bloc team for hosting, everyone who came by, ate everyone's food, joined @aktibowear's run, supported us, or simply spent part of their Sunday with us. Still tired from last Sunday, but our hearts are very full. Thanks po labyu all.
