Had the great opportunity to work with filmmaker Rodrick Pocowatchit - @rawd.zilla - for a series in the Spring 2021 @kansasmagazine! His Incredible Brown NDN is the story of the world’s first Native American superhero, and we drew on his slapstick stylings to create some of my favorite photos of 2020. . #wichitaphotographer #superhero #nativeamerican #filmmaker #incrediblebrownndnmovie #kansasmag #portraitphotography #magazineshoot

Rod Pocowatchit @rawd.zilla is Pawnee/Shawnee/Comanche. He has written, produced, edited, directed, acted and everything in between for his independent films, which consist of four features and around 20 short films. The Kansas-native is also currently a film columnist for the Wichita Eagle. Rod was honored with the Native Vision Award at the 2019 Bare Bones International Film Festival in Muskogee, OK.  He was also nominated for the festival’s top award, the Indie Auteur Award, which recognizes a filmmaker’s determination, commitment and drive to set a standard that demands respect and admiration. Rod’s films will have you caring about the characters—who they are, where they came from and leave you wanting more once the screen goes black. Don’t miss your chance to see his award-winning film “Red Hand” on Saturday, directly followed by a Q&A with Rod and then a panel discussion with all of our special guests! Our Holba' Pisachi' Native Film Festival takes place Friday, Aug. 2, through Saturday, Aug. 3.
