What a week I’ll never forget. I truly don’t have the words to describe how life-changing this past mission trip to the LA Dream Center was, but what I do know is that the Lord showed up! Going through Skid Row and even having totally unexpected encounters with people full of brokenness and anger was really difficult and definitely was a lot to process. But one thing that really hit me was how we, as believers, need to be the light of the world and let our good deeds shine for all to see so that everyone will see God’s love. And even in those moments where it might be hard to get through to some people, our actions need to be louder than our words. By serving people, we reflect Christ’s humility and demonstrate His compassion. In some moments, we had to feed people’s stomachs before we could feed their souls, or clean up their neighborhood before we could help clean up their lives. By serving others and showing them genuine compassion, we get the opportunity to share the true message of Christ and encourage people to learn about Him, believe in His Word, and entrust their lives to Him.

You are the light of the world- like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead a lamp is placed on a stand where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father. Matthew 5: 14-16

Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. Isaiah 58:10
