Exactly a year ago today (Oct. 25, 2024), my fierce relay team and I ran from L.A. to San Diego.

I learned so much about myself and working with others during that weekend. The biggest lesson I learned is that with the right folks beside you, you can do anything you put your mind to.

When I say I LOVE and adore every single member of my team, I truly truly do. Everyone was quick to help and support. They stayed patient even in times of chaos (like when our sprinter van died on us and when we drove for an hour to find the right diesel gas for one of our vans). There were times over the course of the 22 hours when we wanted to give up (I can definitely speak for myself lol).

There were times when all we wanted was to see those Golden Arches late at night for some fries and some nuggets…or just get 30 minutes of sleep to shake the delirium out of our minds and bodies. Throughout it all, we shared snacks, laughs and dance moves…keeping our spirits high.

It made a huge mark on my life to get to know these lovely people even deeper than before.

I would do it all over again with this crew. ✊🏿

Started 28 with some of my literal favorite humans from ALL phases of my life. I’m talking like from 1st grade, to college to med school. What a blessing it is to love and be loved. I feel blessed beyond measure. As you can see we had a blast. Till next Nelli weekend! 🌴🎉🎂

Thank you so much to Christian @christian.cambridge_ and Amanda @cambridgestorm, rockstar sibling Leaders of the Caffeinated Fridays @caffeinatedfridays coworker group for cultivating a safe space for us to BE ✨. The healing community that you both all are building through providing a regular weekly coworking space catered to Black professional and other professional professionals of color is not only beautiful, but needed in this trying time in our world 🌎

Christian, I am so grateful to have stumbled upon your group at Carla’s @cbanksfitness event last December and for you to be taking the time to host us in your backyard speaks the volume about your care for the black community and marginalized communities in general friend! 🫶🏾

To be reconnected with besties from high school, such as Janae @callmejayohhh and Miles @milesrashaad , and to create new friendships, rooted in community, creativity, music 🎶 entrepreneurship, and others in various fields in Los Angeles has been truly touching and healing during such a politically tumultuous time in our world 🌎

I pray that this group continues to be a group of love, harmony, peace, and joy, and that we continue to love on each other, create stronger emotional support networks within and create more space for radical acceptance in a city that is so rooted in inequality 🌈

May God bless and keep all of you lovelies today and always! ❤️🫶🏾

Shoutout to Cardi B @iamcardib for the musical vibes!

With Love,
Marguerite
