A dream come true for our 10-year-old selves. 💜

Pro women’s teams to cheer for 📣, athletes to inspire us ⭐, jerseys to wear and more opportunities to play in our communities. 🏀⚽🏒

On this UN’s International Day of the Girl, let’s celebrate where we are and thank those who have fought for change.

We also recognize those who continue to work towards a future where every girl has a chance to play. 💜

This Thanksgiving, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what we’re grateful for, the communities that bring us together, and the importance of giving back.

We recognize the deep and enduring connections Indigenous Peoples have to the lands we live and play on, and the importance of continuing to learn from the histories and relationships that shape our communities.

MY DAY 1 ❤️
As most know by now because I’ve said it often, @callihogarth is my Day 1 in hockey. Through Calli and her mama @valleyg77 and her time with the local jr womens hockey team, (side note and coach Ed Mauro of course) , a door to women’s hockey opened for me that has led to some pretty incredible people, experiences and opportunities.
So, seeing CALLI HOGARTH on the Toronto Sceptres Training Camp roster? This one hits differently.

Calli put her name into the PWHL Draft this year. Though her name wasn’t called then, nothing can take away that she put her name in.
And now she’s going to Toronto Sceptres Training Camp!
She gets to walk into that room alongside signed pros, Olympians, returning Sceptres and draft picks, including women I’ve had the privilege of getting to know and worked with through charity, and absolutely love cheering for, like Natalie Spooner, Ella Shelton, Raygan Kirk & Jessie McPherson (our incredible goalies) and Clara Van Wieren.
And my Day 1 gets to be in that room too.
Yes, training camp is an opportunity where anything can happen. But whatever comes next, THIS matters.

May this lesson be for all of us.
⇢ A step forward is progress. Trying is progress.
⇢ Put your name forward even when the competition is fierce. Try even when you’re not sure you can. Stop deciding the outcome before you’ve given yourself the opportunity to find out.
⇢ Get out of your own way.
Because being in the room matters. Being seen matters. Doing the work matters. Staying on the radar and top of mind while continuing to pursue what you want matters.
⇢Maybe it’s yes. Maybe it’s not yet. Maybe this opportunity leads to another one nobody can see coming yet.
⇢⇢But none of it happens if you don’t try.
Calli took the shot. I am beyond proud of her.
Go do your thing, Calli. You got yourself in the room. Now show them what you’ve got.

From the ice to the golf course, we had an amazing day of connection and community celebrating women and girls in hockey at our Inaugural Ice Warriors Invitational.
Our friends at the PWHL and Toronto Tempo showed up, brought the energy and put their skills to the test.
From impressive drives and unexpected birdies to a few shots we’ll politely leave off the highlight reel - it was all fun. We’ve left some commentary to accompany those great drives. 😉
