This life is often filled with excitement-the kind you want and unfortunately the kind you don’t want too. From an awesome family wedding in Charleston celebrating Taylor & Connor Cinque (@tmcinque @chinkway5), we traveled 65 nm to anchor for the night as we begin the rest of the trek north. The other excitement began when a sailboat anchored near us dragged anchor, had cut his anchor line which had tangled in his rudder, pushed into us with the nearly 2 knot current flooding and got his rudder wrapped in our anchor line wedging his boat into our bow. Despite our best efforts, there was no getting out of this without outside help. The USCG responded to my panpan call and worked thoroughly, carefully, and diligently to help resolve the situation. No one was hurt and there was no damage to either vessel. We even were able to find the other boat’s anchor line which the CG returned to him. Matt taught the two enlisted guys a knot they didn’t know (the taught hitch), and he is thrilled that his splice of our anchor rope was tested to the max and held like a pro!! Thank you to the boys of USCG station Georgetown for your help (apologies for interrupting your volleyball game!!) Keep scrolling to the end- video of them doing what they do!! Next stop: Southport NC. #uscoastguard #boatlife #trawlerlife
