Glide & Flow … Week One šŸ‘€

What a first week!!

Days full of longboarding, fresh Atlantic Ocean, green mountains, the best surf coaching… and late dinners, deep conversations and not nearly enough sleep … 😓 the Spanish way !

And somehow, every morning we woke up excited to surf, ready to get up early and do it all over again

Thank you all for joining us this week. It was pretty special ā¤ļø

Thanks @blueberriaguesthouse for the amazing hospitality ā¤ļø

One of the hardest parts of long term love? Family.

When Lee and I first got together, we weren’t just introduced to each other, we were introduced to each other’s WORLDS. Loving one another was a beginning..loving each other’s PEOPLE came next.

Sometimes it was beautiful.
Sometimes it was complicated.

These photos are filled with the people who shaped us. Parents. Siblings. Elders. Chosen family. Lifelong friends. People who have loved us, challenged us, celebrated us, misunderstood us, supported us, and invited us to grow.

The truth is, when you commit to another person, you’re entering a living web of relationships. Relationships with histories and loyalties. Triggers and traditions. Often extraordinary expectations, almost always, extraordinary gifts.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t learning how to love your partner well, it’s learning how to stay connected to yourself while loving the village that comes with them.

For us, our families and community have been one of life’s greatest blessings. They’ve also stretched us in ways we never could have anticipated. So we’ve had to learn:
When to lean in and when to create boundaries.
When to ask for help and when to trust ourselves.
When to let go of being understood and when to make space for different ways of loving.

We’re still learning and maybe that’s part of the art. The point isn’t to build a life free of relational complexity…the point is to become people who can meet complexity with more honesty, more compassion, and a little more grace today than we did yesterday.

We’d love to hear from you: What’s one thing you’ve learned about navigating family, in-laws, or chosen family in your current or past relationship?

Because if there’s one thing we’ve discovered, it’s this:
None of us learns how to love in isolation. We learn in community. We grow in relationship. And sometimes, it really does take a village to raise a couple. ā¤ļø

A commitment 18 years in the making.

More than half my life.

It’s been a bit of time since I crafted a post and I think it’s because I’ve been just really WITH all that’s been taking place over the past few months.

After 4 years of being engaged, 2 wedding venue changes and one power outage… @leejohn_music and I said YES to forever together on February 23rd, our 18 year anniversary.

If there’s anything our relationship represents, it’s devotion. Showing up, together, even things don’t go according to plan. Choosing each other through every season and this most recent has been one of the most profound of our lives.

On February 16th, exactly one week before our wedding and on the final day of the year of the snake, our beloved sis Janelle took her final breath.

Janelle was pure magic…she collapsed time and birthed visions into reality. In the Dojo, she was both star and sister, and in her passing, she taught us how closely joy and grief can dance.

At the wedding, moments after we shared our vows, we gathered at the altar to honor her and Iceberg (see photo 2). I felt both these angels with us…two loving witnesses gently reminding us to celebrate fully while we’re here.

To love deeply.
To choose life and feel the gratitude for every breath.

And as I write this, it’s the eve of my HUSBAND’s birthday.

My partner in love, music, fitness, creativity and everything this life has to offer. I’m so grateful I get to keep saying yes to you forever. Happy almost birthday.

To Janelle, Star Sister, your magic continues to ripple through all of us.

To Iceberg, I feel u every day and I love you forever.

I could never sum up the last few months in one post, but there’s a bit of a snap shot. Thanks for being with me on this journey.

Love You ā™„ļø
