I had the pleasure to compete at the USPA Nationals in Pittsburgh, PA a few weeks ago. Although I didn’t hit the numbers I had planned, I had a good meet, met some great people, and learned a ton for my next training cycle.

I took my planned first attempt at 190/419. Misjudged the lifting order due to not reading the screen correctly, so I came out about 30 sec late, ditched my wrist wraps, had a quick conversation with the hand-off spotter and got to work. This is why we always pick an easy weight for the opener!

Opener felt a bit heavier than I wanted it to, so I went to 200kg instead of my planned 205kg for the second attempt. Got a little out of groove on this one, so it was slower than I wanted, but a good lift.

Went with 205kg for my final attempt. It was a bit of a grind and in the process, my butt lost contact with the bench, so no lift. Technical error on my part and a good call by the officials, who were nothing but excellent for the entire weekend.

Overall, a great experience. Lots of work to do for the next competition, including some technical improvement and adding some mass to my skinny arms (and removing some from the waist!).

Special kudos to @z_thedemigod who won best lifter and @raywillis34 who really won the 55-59 category with an excellent 205 and a close miss at 212.5.
