LOS ANGELES, October 17, 2026
Part 2 of 2

Following the No Kings protest on Saturday afternoon, many demonstrators gathered outside the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Los Angeles to continue protesting alongside others who have maintained a presence there for more than 500 consecutive nights. The evening ended with an apparent assault and several arrests, including that of a member of the press. The following photos are of what i witnessed as the evening unfolded.

Saturday, October 17, 2026 was the fourth national no kings march and voter drive. LAPD throughout the day did things that were slow, questionable, wasteful or unconstitutional. These are some examples of LAPD and their waste of tax dollars on No Kings. #dtla #losangeles #breakingnews #knowyourrights #nokings

No kings 4, downtown LA, October 17, 2026. LAPD blocked off Alameda and with CHP closed off part of the 101 freeway after reports of an altercation. Moments later, an armored vehicle with SRT’s lead a caravan of ICE vans toward the 101 freeway. The police would end up declaring an evacuation order and then arresting several protestors. #dtla #losangeles #breakingnews #knowyourrights #policeaccountability

Saturday, October 17, 2026 was the fourth national No Kings protest which brought in thousands of people throughout the LA area. Many cities had their own events, DTLS had a massive march with speakers and performances. But what made it a party was the arrival of Batman and Swaggy!!! This was the largest early voter drive in American history. #dtla #losangeles #breakingnews #knowyourrights #nokings

On Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, the No Kings coalition held its fourth round of nationwide demonstrations, with a flagship rally and march in downtown Los Angeles at Gloria Molina Grand Park. While the main rally focused on early voting ahead of the Nov. 3 midterms, a separate contingent of protesters and legal observers gathered at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) on Alameda Street between Temple and Aliso in downtown Los Angeles to monitor ICE activity.

The main entrance on Alameda was chained shut, but the side entrance on Temple remained open, with agents and federal employees moving in and out. At one point, armed DHS and Special Response Team (SRT) agents arrived at the side entrance to escort certain vehicles. The protesters and legal observers did not impede the vehicles and continued documenting the scene. DHS also had a camera crew present recording video. #dtla #losangeles #breakingnews #knowyourrights #immigrantrights

On the night of Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, during the No Kings event, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department closed the 101 Freeway during a multi-agency response to locate a person alongside the roadway. The person was found near the freeway, and LAPD and CHP personnel pursued and detained them. Legal observers and bystanders were present, recorded the encounter, and offered assistance to anyone who needed it. Officials have not released the person’s identity, the reason for the pursuit, the level of force used, or the person’s condition and status afterward, leaving key public-accountability questions unanswered. #dtla #losangeles #breakingnews #knowyourrights #policeaccountability

How many licks of the police agency does it take to get to the center of taking a legend off the 101 freeway? ✊✊✊
