“Come on board, where we going now”
A line from my favorite Friko songs- Choo Choo.

And honestly, that’s been a bit of my life lately.

Somewhere along the way, I realized this trip really hasn’t been about checking places off a list. It’s been about the experience of being there.

The Pacific Northwest was stunning. (A word I apparently used so many times I have to find new words)

Vancouver gave us water, mountains, great food, a boat ride, vinyl and wine at Bar Gobo, a suspension bridge my equilibrium did NOT appreciate 😎—and yes, a laundromat. Because this is still real life.

But woven through all of it- were the shows.

Meeting people who know the music. Who connect with it. Who show up for it. Who take it in. Watching this thing that feels so personal to me reach people in places far from home.

And then Red Rocks.

Watching Friko play that stage was one of those moments I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to put into words.

A friend said to me, “I can’t wait to hear about your trip.”

And I thought—how the hell am I going to explain it? 🤣

There are so many moments. So many people who I love and that I’ve been able to see. And an obscene number of photos.

But I think what I’ve learned is that travel is the continuation of new.

New places, yes. But also new situations. New reactions. New things that I noticed about myself- or maybe those things were already there, they just get louder when I step outside everything familiar.

And having the Friko tour as the framework for all of this has been pretty damn extraordinary.

Not only from a parent’s perspective, but as a traveler.

To explore all of these places while witnessing the impact this music is having on people along the way?

What a gift.

“Come on board, where we going now.”

Turns out, I’m pretty comfortable not knowing the answer.

Last night with the Bitchin’ Band Moms, supporting The Digs Chicago- a nonprofit ceramics studio co-founded by Rebecca’s daughter Zoe, creating space and opportunities for Chicago artists.

Kind of love that our kids making music together brought us together…and now we get to show up and support all the other cool things their families are doing, too.

Turns out, the music has given us a lot more than music. 😎🤘Seven degrees of connectedness. 💙

Still thinking about last night.🔥
So proud of Friko - what a show. They gave everything they had. The sound, the lights, the energy, the crowd- the music… it all just blew me away.

There’s nothing like watching your kids step fully into what they love. Grateful for that.

And let’s be honest—band moms rule. 🤘

‘Little by little a little becomes a lot over time.’

So honored and grateful to enter into the mixed martial arts black belt club 😝 hahah moreover, to represent @degerbergacademy and their 44 year legacy (Black Belt # 92 eeeyyy) Walked in a wounded puppy with an intention to get out of my own way and rediscover internal power. Arriving at this benchmark 7 years later I never expected to witness the cup overflow onto every part of life.

The sense of community and ritual among those you love and support, loving and supporting you is one of greatest highs I’ve come to know.

Thank you to my family, to my mentors, partner and friends. The amount of support I have received has left me floating across the room.

I am honored to pay it forward—not just in the dojo but in my personal and professional life. 🥋
