No existing conditions. That’s the luxury of building from the ground up.

In a renovation, the house sets the terms: the walls, the stair, the windows you inherit. Here we designed along with the space as it was built, instead of letting what was already there decide.

The tricky part was one wide open space. It needed separate places to cook, eat and sit, and it still had to feel warm and inviting.

The finishes are a nod to mid-century classics like Philip Johnson’s Glass House. They were also the practical choice, because they’re meant to stand up to hard wear and tear.

When was the last time you took a bath in the middle of the day?

Not because you needed one. Just because the sunlight was coming through the window at just the right angle, and it suddenly seemed like a perfectly reasonable way to spend the afternoon.

Sometimes you stumble upon the light hitting a room just right, and whatever you were thinking about doing suddenly seems a lot less important.

We think more rooms should make you want to cancel your plans.

Sometimes, there’s no better escapism than a romantic comedy. In the genre’s idealized version of Manhattan, characters know how to work hard and play hard, moving from a busy 9-to-5 to last call at a stylish cocktail bar. This year’s NYCxDesign (@nycxdesign) captured that cosmopolitan spirit, with new furniture and lighting launches at Afternoon Light (@afternoonlight) and ICFF (@icff_official) offering plenty of potential love interests. From the dream apartment to the dream job (and maybe even the dream date), we imagine a day and night of modern courtship in the city that never sleeps, as told through some of our favourite finds from New York’s design week.

Há espaços que se constroem também através das peças que os habitam.

Diferentes marcas.
Diferentes linguagens.
Uma composição com intenção.

Porque cada escolha acrescenta algo à história do espaço.

→ Entre no universo QAVTO.

There are spaces that are also shaped by the pieces that inhabit them.

Different brands.
Different styles.
A deliberate composition.

Because every choice adds something to the story of the space.

→ Enter the QAVTO universe.
