We are proud to announce the winners of the 2024 Neighborhood Hero Scholarship! These applicants were selected because they have demonstrated a willingness to impact their community and have a strong academic profile. First off, representing Spring Valley High School we have Carmella Montfleury! Carmella served as a Youth Community Mapper for the County of Rockland where she was tasked with analyzing trends within the community and evaluated areas that could be improved. She has a Food Systems and Technology interest and she will be pursuing that in college this Fall. Congratulations to Carmella! Next, representing Ramapo High School we have Buzmael Joanus! Buzmael served the community by volunteering at institutions and organizations that collect food and clothing to donate to charity as well as those that conduct environmental cleanups. He is motivated to improve literacy rates within the youth and plans to start a non-profit organization geared towards keeping the youth in schools and off the streets. Buzmael is aldo an aspiring business owner. Congratulations Buzmael! Thank you to all of the applicants who applied and thank you to our sponsors who helped to make this scholarship possible. Stay on the lookout for information regarding the next Neighborhood Hero Scholarship!
