Model from my final MA project ‘Re-Jig’. This tower is a demonstrator of a material system which uses all of the available timber from urban trees that are felled. The wood from felled urban trees is usually burned, whereas this structure demonstrates what can be built from a single Norway Maple if the timber was processed in this way. This project was nominated for a RIBA London award ‘How Could We Build’ - currently being exhibited at Eric Parry Architects.

Cathaoir
2026
92 x 60 x 50cm
Painted beechwood, mild steel, Irish wool

collaboration between @elizabeth.brassil and @mcconnellquinn

Cathaoir, Irish for “chair,” reappropriates a discarded British Windsor chair found on the streets of West London. The chair is repaired through the insertion of hand-woven 100% Irish wool sourced and produced in Ireland. Mild steel interventions anthropomorphize the object, introducing a heel, an arm, and a piercing, shifting the chair from domestic furniture toward a bodily presence.

By reappropriating an iconic form of British vernacular furniture through Irish textile traditions, Cathaoir challenges the cultural associations embedded within the Windsor chair. The fluorescent green finish recasts the beechwood, a material closely associated with British furniture production throughout the twentieth century, while the inserted wool and steel replace elements of the chair with a distinctly Irish material language.

My project explores what care can look like when it isn’t delivered by systems, but by spaces.
This water and sound device is designed for queer and trans communities shaped by war, migration, and limited medical access in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
Instead of promising a “future body,” it stays with the present one: breathing, vibrating, and finding rhythm in collective presence.
