What makes a good Performance Coach?👀

In my experience as a coach, I’ve seen coaches develop programs for clients that enable the client to target general performance goals, but never pinpoint if that goal is currently realistic for the client to accomplish right then. They’re given a list of areas to grow, but no distinct target. The coach developed a program based on ideal Client adherence, but never provides the client with steps to take to get them there. The client follows the plan, gets stronger, develops more muscle, maybe even loses fat depending on what the goal was. I’ve seen the client show up diligently day in-day out; changes happen, but as soon as the client steps away from the coach, the results stop. They don’t immediately go away, but the clients becomes seemingly “directionless”. The road becomes rocky.

I believe a good coach establishes a well educated vision for every client they work with. A good coach educates the client and allows clients to develop the ability to “interpret themselves” within the context of their every day.

-How can I show up every day to the best of my abilities?
-What does it take for me to show up in the ways that I need to?
-What does it look like for me to be prepared?
-What does it look like for me to establish a realistic perspective on the things I’m trying to accomplish?

For my clients, I craft a vision. A good coach climbs with the client up the mountain and shows them the holds that are secure. The root of every victory for every client is the revelation:

“Divinely designed. Created with Dignity. Destined for more”🏆

I remember a couple years ago when this spot on my medal rack had no Age Group podium medals….

I saved this spot on my medal rack for future podium medals 🥇🥈🥉

I remember the feelings of being bummed out when i was sooooo close to earning my 1st medal.

I remember finishing in 4th place a couple of times. I remember failing obstacles and making mistakes that cost me a podium finish. 😣

I felt disappointed every time, but I knew that it was just a matter of time! I knew that I would continue to improve when I learned from my failures and improve my fitness.

Flash forward to today….I have earned multiple podium medals, flags, and team batons! Every one of them reminds me that always consistency and mindset always wins over talent. Every medal has a story of giving it my all during the race and the hard work that I put in before the race. 💯

The medals are cool, but they’re not what I’m most proud of.

I’m most proud of the man that I have grown into! I have built up so much confidence in myself that I can accomplish what I set my mind to and I have the ability to make my goals a reality!

You are only up on a podium for a few minutes, but the fitness and health that you gain will benefit you in every day life. I don’t need the podium medals to be happy

Never let anybody tell you that you can’t achieve BIG GOALS. There are countless stories of people that went through bigger challenges that have achieved what others thought was impossible!

I hope my story inspires you! One of these days in the future, you will be so glad that you pushed through the failures, challenges, and set backs. 😃⚡️

Stop saying that you’ll never improve at DEKA Box Shuffles!

Also, stop saying that your height is the reason you aren’t good at shuffles. That’s a limiting belief. There are elite athletes of all heights who dominate this station.

This can become one of your fastest station just like it has for me with consistent training, smart programming, and patience.

🔥 Explosive Low Box Shuffles help develop the fast-twitch muscle fibers needed for quick lateral movement while allowing you to master the pattern on a shorter box before progressing to the 24-inch box.

🔥 Lateral Step Downs improves control during the lateral step down portion of each rep.

🔥 Hurdles and Agility Ladder Drills improve foot speed, coordination, and agility.

🔥 High Box Step-Ups build the hip and leg strength needed for a 24-inch box. You can also perform lateral step-ups to make the exercise even more specific to the movement.

Like I said, you can get better at this station and you will!

Be patient. Stay consistent. Trust the process. One day you’ll look back and realize the station you once dreaded has become one of your biggest strengths.

It’s really easy to overcompensate when you have both legs working. Take one away and it will humble you quickly!

3 reasons to throw single leg and split stance work in there

1. Improve asymmetry
2. Improve your balance
3. Improve muscle imbalances (over and under active muscles)

It’s not about being perfect. We’ll always gave a dominant side. It’s about being more efficient. You can be a lot more efficient if we can get a little better unilaterally 💪🏾

Semi-Private training spots are filling up! Only 8 more spots available. Link is in the bio. Let’s get to work!
