Year 2 with the family in blue💙

This season was the most fun I’ve ever had in band! I remember after my first Bucs season I wasn’t sure if I wanted to return since that year was super difficult for me both mentally and also physically. Though as soon as I stepped into membership day this year those feelings faded and I felt like I was back home.

Thank you to everyone who made this season special. Thank you staff for pushing us , even when it was raining, super hot and super cold. Thank you to the baritone section for pushing even when times got tough. Thank you to all the friends who made me look forward to coming to rehearsal every weekend. I miss you guys already.

Though I won’t be back next year, I know I’ll definitely return home someday.

My third season with the Reading Buccaneers has come to an end. 💙

Each year, I feel like I leave with one lesson that stays with me long after the season is over. My first year taught me the importance of discipline and learning to push through difficult moments. My second showed me what true friendship looks like. This year, more than anything, I learned what it means to believe in myself.

I think I underestimated how much confidence can affect you as a performer. I have always known that I have more to learn and more room to grow, both as a marcher and as a person. This season, though, I began to understand that recognizing where you can improve does not have to mean doubting what you are already capable of. Learning to trust my preparation, my abilities, and the work I have put in has changed the way I perform more than I expected it to.

I am especially grateful for the people who helped me get there. This season brought so many new friendships into my life and strengthened so many others. Having people who believe in you, encourage you, challenge you, and make you laugh when you need it most is something I will never take for granted.

I am leaving this season proud of the progress I made, while still knowing there is so much more I want to accomplish.

Reading Buccaneers took the 2026 DCI All-Age World Championship with a 96.20 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

They came in leading after Prelims at 94.700 and added 1.50 in Finals. The margin over Hawthorne Caballeros at the end of the night was 0.55.

We used the Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center at Ursinus College for our shoot. Most of it was done in the Blackbox Theater, but we did venture out for some shots.

The Kaleidoscope has a nice grand staircase that we used to get some levels. Here you can see Artistic Coordinator start the posing process for the staircase shot.

We utilized four different LED panels, three of which were RGB controllable. Obviously, blue had to be the choice for the drum majors.

I like this shot a TON, but it didn’t make the cut because it was too difficult to mask the models out because of the shallow depth of field. Still sick though.

Ray did like 5 jump spin things (idk i’m not up to date on my dance lingo) and nailed it every time.

One of the 4 lights was ALWAYS behind the models so we could isolate them from the already dark background and create a nice outline which you can see here on Eli’s hair.

Nick made a great call and added some swagger to the shoot by posing Lillian and Eli like they just dropped the hottest rap album of the 1990’s. We didn’t use this particular shot because it was too tall, but we did use Carter and Amanda doing the same pose.
