I get by with a little help from my friends

I am very out of the loop on new releases and kinda directionless when it comes to picking up books right now. So if you send me a message saying, “Hey, read this.” I’m probably just going to download whatever you tell me immediately.

I asked @bee.isreading and @readingwiththechoob to recommend me a couple books because I can’t make a decision on my own right now. But never fear because they both delivered.

This was not on my radar and I’m so glad she told me about this. It was a quirky family drama with two FMC half sisters brought together in a very unique way. There is grief, toxicity, addiction, as well as humor and redemption.

It’s Different This Time

I’m not a second chance romance girlie but this was a good one. So if you already like that trope, go pick this one up. Two former roommates get forced together again when they inherit their former residence. I got a little annoyed with the FMC towards the end but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I just wanted a little more self reflection faster on her part during the third act breakup.

A mental health journey with a character who has given everything she has to someone who gives her nothing. This is about not being able to help who we love, and missing the red flags when we are blinded by infatuation.

Britt’s second choice The Drowning Woman has a bit of a wait but I’m excited to get to it.

Listen these two are amazing. I’m lucky to have them as friends, our group chat is always a favorite. I’m lucky to have them for good book recs too.

I am hoping to fit in a couple episodes of the Pitt that I’ve missed. But I’ve mostly been stuck watching Peppa Pig. I’m not enjoying the departure from Bluey and Spidey. Peppa makes my daughter happy, but me not so much. But it’s not about me.

Doing
A busy tasking week at work. We’ve moved most of the store around. I’m off tomorrow. Hopefully a mix of rest and cleaning the house. Then work Sunday.

Happy Wicked: For Good Week for all those who celebrate 💚🩷

I’ve always enjoyed listening to the Broadway album of this show but it isn’t until watching the two movies that I’ve grown a love for it, and after watching Wicked: For Good last Saturday, I can say that this will stay with me forever and is now one of my top favorite movies of all time!

Seeing everyone post pink and green books to celebrate Wicked recently, I couldn’t help but join in, but also wondered if there was a Wicked book tag to add to it. Thank Goodness (hehe see what I did there) @baileybookmarks had made one and it’s the book tag I have here, so credits to her

Today is the re-opening of @slowburn.books 💓 I had been dying to go there, so when @abookblog.bytay invited @readingwiththechoob and me to go, I was soooooo stoked!

I haven't bought a physical book in a long time, but I figured with it being my birthday month, it'd be a nice lil treat. Slowburn Books is a romance bookstore, so I was set on buying one. As recommended by my beautiful bookish friends, I got my first @emilyhenrywrites, "Funny Story".

Note: I've got bookish friends?! Ah! Happy days!

September wrap up, yes you read that right. No I didn’t type it wrong. Stop judging me.

September wasn’t my biggest reading month by any means but I read three really great books, two good books, and some alright books. And I realized when I was about to post October that I hadn’t yet posted September so here we are.

I highly recommend The Serpent King, and Mistakes Were Made if you want a great sad girl YA read. Read both of those because of @wordsbetweenlines and am thankful for her recs. Honestly I could already reread Serpent King and be wrecked by it all over.

Also highly recommend Interesting Facts About Space. Quirky, sad, funny, a lot of things but so enjoyable. I got to read it with several favorite people which also added to the enjoyment.

I also had a great time reading The Dagger and The Flame and The Ex Vows. Everything else was ok but forgettable.
