✔️ Done! 67,000 words on midlife courage are now with my editor at Hachette/GCP Balance. It took 200+ interviews on midlife transformation, 13 books, 50+ academic studies, and a lifetime of being inspired by the midlife women in my family, my friendships, and my mentors. Putting on my researcher hat to find the patterns in all of those extraordinary women was one of the most gratifying things I’ve ever done. Putting on my brand new writer hat (thanks to @karacut of @readthehat) to turn them into a guide for any woman who wants to do something big and brave was equal parts scary and thrilling. It was very meta, writing a book about doing big, brave things, and the book was my big, brave thing. I learned so much about myself along the way! Like everything else, it was a massive team effort. Andy, the girls, and my mom convinced me I could and should write a book and signed on for my insane/genius idea that we needed to live at the beach for it to happen. Friends helped me figure out how the heck to write a book, and gave invaluable feedback at every stage. And @diventi convinced the best team in publishing to buy it. I count my riches these days in the quality of my community, and lately I feel like a freaking billionaire. Courage Capital: It’s Not Too Late to Do Big, Brave Things coming your way October 2027. While I’ve interviewed @joeyariasnyc and @basiltwist3 before, this is the first time I’ve talked to them together. What an absolute thrill it was to chat with these brilliant, singular artists about bringing back their signature spectacle Arias with a Twist 18 years after its stunning debut. My first piece for @readthehat is equal parts interview and essay as I explore time’s impact on this show, the East Village and all of us. Link in my linktr.ee—I highly recommend this one!
