✨️𝑳𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔, 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒂, 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: 𝑹𝒆𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒌✨️

Thank you @theultimate.bibliophile for this tag. This way, I found out that I have a lot of red books, and this wasn't even all of them 😅

But is it shocking? No. Red is one of my favourite colours, or maybe even my absolute favourite 😍

And sorry for not being that active 🫣 I'm trying to at least post twice a week, but sometimes life gets in the way, and I end up only posting once. I'm back to my studies and I'm also currently trying to settle into my new job. On top of that, I also recently got diagnosed with ADHD; I'm trying to find a routine that works both with my studies and in my daily life.

Hopefully, I don't end up going crazy and seeing red (pun intended 🤭)

I have tagged a few friends to join this challenge, but if you aren't tagged, feel free to join in too ❤️

💭 Which of your daily routines is a must for you?
💭 What are you currently reading?

Happy Sunday besties!

I got tagged AGES AGO by @shelflovebymara and @bookdragon891 to do a redish book stack. And I’m FINALLY getting round to doing it (whoops) 🫠

So I thought I’d do a red + black book stack, and ngl they look sexy 🤭

I’m tagging a few people in this, but absolutely no pressure to do it if you don’t want to! But, if you do, I’m excited to see yours!

I’m currently reading Funny Story by @emilyhenrywrites, only about 10 pages in so will update your guys on what I think! Emily Henry has kinda been a hit or miss for me though. Like, I loved Beach Read and Book Lovers but absolutely hated You and Me on Vacation and Happy Place. So we’ll see where Funny Story falls…🫣

Synopsis

The remote Scottish islands of St Kilda were evacuated over a century ago.

And for good reason.

Bruce hates the cold, he hates being away from the city, and, most of all, he hates spiders. But, drawn by the promise of rich gas reserves, he leads a team of corporate surveyors to these lonely shores.

The discovery of a dead body, an infestation of strange arachnids, and a seemingly abandoned military base raise worrying questions.

In this desolate isolation, a monstrous presence looms as the team uncover the dark truth behind the islands' evacuation.

Synopsis

Gilmore Girls meets a reverse Parent Trap in this swoony and hilarious YA rom-com from popular adult romance author Lily Chu, following a teen who, while on a group tour to Japan, teams up with a fellow traveler to keep their parents from falling in love with each other.

Ivy Yu is cursed. Her parents separated six months ago, and she’s fallen into a fog. To help, her mother books an impulsive trip to Japan (cool) on a bus tour (very uncool). Ivy should be grateful, but this summer is her last chance to get her situationship, Connor, to fall in love with her.

When they arrive in Tokyo, it’s even worse than she imagined. Ivy and her Mom are the youngest of a group of seniors. Make that two of the youngest: there’s brooding Matteo, with his single dad, Keith.

Then Ivy discovers her mother and Keith are getting close, and her crush back home is hooking up with someone else. Desperate for some semblance of control and a distraction from the heaviness she can’t seem to shake off, she makes a deal with Matteo to keep their parents apart. Luckily, he agrees—and their devious plans begin.

Dodging nosy old ladies on the bus ride through Japan, their strange partnership begins to blossom into something unexpected and exciting—but can their romantic spark survive the journey?

Blurb
After five years of married life in a Cretan fishing village—milking goats, sidestepping village gossip, and contending with octopus in her refrigerator—American Carolyn Papadakis starts to wonder if she should return to the US.
An unexpected visitor deepens her doubts, and a new friendship with a pair of traveling hippies draws Carolyn into risky choices. As her marriage teeters on the edge, Carolyn must decide between the life she created and the one she left behind.
Full of humor and heart, Mrs. Papadakis paints a vibrant portrait of village life while exploring identity, belonging, and the challenge of building a life far from home. Perfect for readers drawn to literary fiction, cross-cultural life, and stories of identity and belonging.

My thoughts
This is a relatively short story. The other books I've read from this author had pretty deep or dark tones to them whereas this felt much lighter, despite what Karolina described as the plunge!
I really liked the setting of the small Cretan village, the characters were easy to visualise because of the descriptive writing and they provided much humour and heart.
There was lots of parts to this story, I wasnt a fan of the period with the hippies.
There were some bits mentioned in the journal chapters while in America that led me to think something, but it never came to anything. I was quite surprised by this because without it, it feels a little strange to have included these reflections on her being ill and gaining weight and being very tired.
Its a good read and I'm sure many will enjoy it.
