Blessed Sunday to Everyone!

How is your weekend going? I’m certainly enjoying this day 2 of a 3 days weekend!

Today, I’m just chilling & reading! Do you make time to read? By read, I don’t mean reading material related to your work/school. I mean totally unrelated reading that’s just for the fun of it!

I try to read a little something daily. My reading material is as variable as it is specific. Sometimes, I read the bible (I love the Psalms, Proverbs & Ecclesiastes), plays, scripts (more recently), novels, self help books & my own writings! With over 34 yrs of writing them, I’ve accumulated a lot of my own poems, short stories & journal entries. So, I find reading those to be quite revealing for me & they provide incredible catharsis as they bring back snapshots of my thought process at the many phases of my life experience.

Yet, above all else, I still enjoy a good novel... the same as I was at age 13! I love the thrill of starting a good book & not being able to put it down... that said, I take more time to finish one now! In my teens/early twenties, I would read the densest novel, cover to cover, in as little as 24 - 36 hours! No sleep until it was done... total immersion! To this day, I enjoy having the scenes come to life in my mind!

One thing that I also enjoy is reading to ‘little people’. It’s something that I try to do whenever I can. Although I have no littles of my own, I have lots of cousins & friends who do! These littles & I have such an understanding that they bring me their books as soon as they see me 🤗. Their willing & enthusiastic imagination as they hear a story is something truly special to behold & has a power to brighten even the darkest circumstance. Have you read a story to your favorite littles, lately? How amazing was that?

Anywho, it’s time for me to get back to this relaxing Sunday. I hope you do a little ‘non required’ reading today. Even if you’re prepping for the boards or the steps or the entrance exam or the promotion assessment, take even 10 minutes to read something that’s apart! It clears the mind & rejuvenates the spirit! I say this from loving & personal experience! .
